Need some assistance in a good DPS build

Hey I am quite new to the game but have always liked long range DPS. I started with an Archer and im at lvl 25 but its quite boring. Can someone give me some insite on which class to make and go into some good details on how I should make this class. I would really appreciate it. P.S. - I have always used a Wizard in all the MMO's ive played. Thank you guys and I hope you can assist me.

Basically, if you want to be similar to what you've played in other games, play a BLM or SMN. If you go BLM, you already have almost all of the ARC cross-class skills you'll need, and you'll just need to get ARC up 9 more levels to get Quelling Strikes. I'm afraid there's not much playstyle-altering you can do with the classes in this game, so if you're finding ARC boring, then I recommend trying a different class. Even if you play BLM, you might want to level ACN a bit to get Physick, which helps while you're soloing.

All classes are boring at the early levels.

However, if you like to play casters, BLM would be the obvious choice. SMNs are also casters but play differently with DoT focus and pet/summons.

Also, ffxiv doesn't really have builds. Just put your stat points into your primary stat (int, str, mind, or dex). But every level 60 character has the exact same skills as any other level 60 character of that class, with the possible exception of a few cross-class skills.

To get a feel for how the class plays usually they change dynamically between 30-40. Sometimes it's hard to stick it out that long but you can't get a good feel before that really.
