lol by public outcry he means the same old whiners that have been here for a year still complaining about stupid stuff, plus those nooblets that decided to play the game before the patch when it cleared was stated that it was going to change.

most of the outcry is people missing the very broken exp before, frome level 1-23 (had a boosted rate), and people not adapting to gear level mattering, exp received scaling to level, having to fight monsters closer to your level, etc. The thing devs have to remember, is it takes awhile for people to adjust to change, im sure the system has some issues that need to be adresssed. The plevel thing kind of nullifies the other work on balancing the exp curve/item use.
Basically its not like the game exp is that different from before, you get it in a different way, and what was good to fight before may not be good now. Certain monsters are harder, and others are easier. There is sooo much that has changed, it will take people at least a week to really get used to it.
I have a feeling a truely new player will have little problem, whereas a new player is going crazy based on the past norms.
problem is,while those critism is needed, usually backup by baseless argument. let me give you some example:So criticism about flawed systems (i.e. how it's hostile towards solo/lowman play, power leveling, etc) = negativity? These forums were created so that we can let the devs know when they're doing a good job (making chocobos and airships available for easy travel, more optimized crafting recipes that make sense, the materia system, etc) and when they're screwing things up (power leveling, etc). It's up to Square to decide which comments to listen to, but it's absolutely essential that in order for this game to be successful on the PS3 re-release, that glaring issues be addressed or face running into a repeat of what happened last year.
The so-called "negativity" you're whining about is because players want to see the game succeed as much as you do. They may have a different view on what needs to be done to allow this to happen, but there's room to allow many people's opinions and criticisms to direct the development of this game. Us pretending like 1.19 is the gift of the gods would be one of the worst things to do for the longevity of this games.
-no one doing behest
-no one doing side quest
-party play is killing 1 mob with 7 people (a la power ranger) (pre 1.19 may be true, but now those mobs are buddies now among them)
-you need 4 mage on Dungeon run
-etc
Personally what would I like to read is read thread that stating problem with actual condition, possible outcome with it(no exagaration please), what alternatives and replied by on how to temporary solve the problem.
Please wake me up....

I don't think it's being whiny or a public outcry to want to know why the Dev's have largely been silent.
I'm all for challenge and adapting to change, but there are still major issues that need addressing, such as:
- Quests being too hard for their recommended level
- A strong push for partying, but a lack of a decent party search/invite feature.
- Power Leveling to 50 in 2 weeks.
- Solo Levequests being too difficult/not rewarding
- Stealing mobs by territory reset
- New players getting the raw end of the deal.
These are things I hope to see responded to (and I made a nice list for em to go by!).
Thanks for the reply though Reinhart, it does make sense that they'd be busy with translating that live event.

Everyone is screaming because of change, not because of hte inability to do things. I've had 3 xp grind parties and 2 leve parties and yes, some stuff is different. So you adapt, or leave. It's not going to change back.

Where are you getting that it takes 2 weeks to power level to level 50 if the patch hasn't even been out for a week?
It takes way, way less than that actually. There are reports from multiple people in the Power leveling is broken thread about insane exp gain while being power leveled. Going from 35-44 in 2 hours, or getting 25k exp in under 5 minutes at level 24, etc. It's a huge problem, and it needs to be fixed post-haste.
