No Dev Response?

It's been nearly 2 days since 1.19, and the public outcry has almost died down to a tumult of agreeable dissent. The major topics of discussion that people want to know about have stayed alive throughout, and those that were just mere childish cries have sorted themselves out.

I posted some stuff which JP reps responded but nothing major so far.... so guessing the reps are trying to get answers + I know for the JP side they working on making transcript of the live producer letter so maybe NA side busy translating (aside from the one posted on twitter)

I also posted on the JP side to see if the devs/reps can make the live video feed with english/french/german sub title for other players to see the full thing instead of getting bits and pieces of translation.

Such as? Seriously, the complaints so far have almost all been people who were still attempting to xp using pre-patch methods instead of adjusting. I guess they could respond to the bitching about stuff missing from the patch that was never promised, and was in fact told it would be later before releasing. The rest have been pure preference, not actual problems. What exactly are they to be responding to?

At any rate, the Japanese/English translation thread did have a couple of responses on actual issues.

I was actually meaning to ask you this myself Mr Reinheart, since you sound like a nice guy. Have the JP players run into the same brick walls regarding XP leveling? Are there just as many elitist "hardcore" players telling those who prefer to solo to L2P or shut up? Or has the JP side overall quickly adapted and are liking the combat/XP changes?

JP Side does talk about solo being much harder and SE probably wants them to start partying, but overall they are trying to adapt to it as fast as possible. I posted on my thread also but they do talk about the queue problem where it's being a problem for some when you can't stack actions but game still lets you press enter on action and the target disappears making it hard to get used to the timing. Also they do talk about leve's being bit too hard for solo specially the GC one with level 30 because of the amount of mob/links you get.

Personally I'm solo/duo player and I did pretty bad with the first mob I tested on my Pug50, tried level 56 eft and almost died since I was fighting just like I used to not knowing the cure rate sucks compared to how much HP I have now lol But reading what YoshiP said about materia, and looking at the JP materia thread (talking about which materias give what stats, and them testing putting 2 IV materias on NQ/HQ gears and stuff) it seems like if you do it right you can pretty much solo without any problem imo. Just need to get used to the new system.

I am very happy with the patch and all I have seen is the usual moaning because someone's favourite bit is now different and rather than looking to see what they need to do they come on here and complain.

If I was responsible for a game (not just FFXIV) then the last place I would want to be is on a forum where they are discussing my game. The negativity here depresses me, I dread to think what it does to the people who worked long and hard on the patch.

I am very happy with the patch and all I have seen is the usual moaning because someone's favourite bit is now different and rather than looking to see what they need to do they come on here and complain.

So criticism about flawed systems (i.e. how it's hostile towards solo/lowman play, power leveling, etc) = negativity? These forums were created so that we can let the devs know when they're doing a good job (making chocobos and airships available for easy travel, more optimized crafting recipes that make sense, the materia system, etc) and when they're screwing things up (power leveling, etc). It's up to Square to decide which comments to listen to, but it's absolutely essential that in order for this game to be successful on the PS3 re-release, that glaring issues be addressed or face running into a repeat of what happened last year.

The so-called "negativity" you're whining about is because players want to see the game succeed as much as you do. They may have a different view on what needs to be done to allow this to happen, but there's room to allow many people's opinions and criticisms to direct the development of this game. Us pretending like 1.19 is the gift of the gods would be one of the worst things to do for the longevity of this games.
