I'm pretty sure that the majority of participants in this thread (like 99.9%) have voiced their displeasure in the same manner I just did without calling entries "garbage", "trash", and "a waste of space"; yet we got told we were "insulting" finalists. I find it insulting that we can't express our opinions without being told we're being insulting. Insultception. o_O

Some people sure are getting worked up over this :/ I dont think anyone's trying to insult anyone, I think its more people are just disappointed they dont see anything to match their tastes (which is fair enough) and maybe just arent considering how it would feel for those who were chosen when they see comments like some that have been posted. Personally, I like the styles that are there, I wouldnt use the majority of them myself, but I like them. It was difficult because of the conditions of the contest (I would have loved to have seen longer hair, but they were probably trying to avoid more potential clipping). And I can understand the reasons if the hairstyles seem to match the tastes of whoever's picking them. I would have loved different styles, but the winners have to get chosen and then made by 3.1 which is likely soon, they needed to choose something they knew they could create and for each race (remember most new hairstyles that come out are only for one race at first)

The only thing that makes me sad is that the current winning female hairstyle looks lovely but I dont think it will look good on my character >_< I hate the scales on my particular au ra's forehead so I always try to find styles that cover it. Also the newly clarified rule that only the last 'like' a person gives to an entry is counted. If people dont go back and unlike all but one, its likely that the further down in the thread a finalist is, the more likely it is to be the winner as voters probably just went through the thread clicking each one by one

Please, this is a thread to give those who didn't have the opportunity to have theirs seen in the finals, to showcase them. The last few pages have just been walls of text that are better suited to their own thread (down to an average of one pic per page). The simple fact that they are here, as little more than spam is, insult enough to the artists.

If you want to have a debate on what should have made it, or the criteria the judges used to pick them, or even if having the right to say something means you're not a jerk for saying it, their own threads would be more appropriate. So can we get back to seeing some very nice art people worked on, rather than throwing a bunch of trash talk in here.

Threads do evolve and grow, sometimes what they grow into needs their own thread as a specific topic.

Its never cool to see your work put down and compared to other pieces, but it happens when you enter a contest. Anytime. As an artist I expect it, and judging by other pics on here, some of which are amazingly well done, I am sure others understand and expect it too.

Have you ever won a contest where you were like, wow, mine wasn't as good as a lot of other peoples... No? Well, now some people have. It happens a lot in art contests because art is subjective and biases occur. I have been careful not to say how I felt about specific entries, but I do have an opinion which unless I choose to lie to spare an artist's feelings will at least include: "I felt the choices SE made had little thought put into them."

There. Now you have something to moan about. Or you could man up and realize that being in the spotlight means being a target.

After I saw many people post their artwork, I just gonna say, most of them is MORE BETTER than some of the artwork on finalist seriously. I don't know why devs ignore some of this nice hairstyles. Is it because they're too complicated to design as 3D or they want minimalist style?

(Honestly I did "dafuq" face when they allowed to put IRL hair as entry lol.)

Well, it's a contest for hairstyle design, not for drawing a hairstyle design. And some are better at coming up with hairstyles when they can shape it with their hands in 3D instead of translating it from their heads into 2D media =) And some can't draw anything more advanced than stick figures (*cough* me, for example), but that doesn't necessarily mean their creations are any less amazing. Shaping someone's hair (your own, or your model's in case your personal hair isn't good enough) isn't any less artistic than making a clay sculpture.
