Be able to trade dated gear with new gear?

Just an idea but for those that don't want to make their dated gear into materia would be nice if there was NPC you can actually trade your dated gear to be replaced with a new one so I can actually attach materia onto the gear I already have instead of going through all the process to find/craft a new one.

What you all think?

I like this idea, it sounds pretty good to me! SE obviously doesn't want us using the old stuff anyway. Letting us convert the dated gear into non-dated versions -- if they exist -- would help alleviate the whole "everyone needs/wants new gear all at the same time" crunch without discouraging materia creation (which I'm sure we will mostly want to do that anyway!)

And the non-dated versions would have the new stats/requirements, so I'm sure there are plenty of people that would like to keep their dated gear anyway.

Its an interesting idea, but why wouldn't you want to convert your gear to materia?

If you want to keep the bit of gear (for sentimental reasons or what ever) then you wouldn't want to trade it, and if you don't want to keep it, what's wrong with converting to materia?

Or they could introduce recipes that make use of a generic matter type [Dated X + matter = New version of X (or equivalent new item)]. Obviously this requires more work on the dev side of things to instantiate a bunch of new crafting recipes and the catalyst, so maybe the NPC trade idea is better.... Still I think there should be some way for us to convert the dated gear to new versions or their equivalent replacements.

Just thought it was good way to help those crying about their +3 gear. (I don't have any other than eye patch from the skeleton mob lol so doesn't really matter to me)

Pretty sure new version of the gear going to show up on the market but noticed some not being made yet; probably just too early so thought this idea would work for that also.
