they are really highlighted by the face they're attached to. This is where the issue comes into play. Would they actually look good on your character model and not the face given? That's what I feel about 21 and 8 for Females. Don't get me wrong, they're good too. But it worries me.

I feel like a lot of the votes are based on art style rather than the actual hairstyle.

It would have been better if they made categories for this contest.
Like "short hair" "long hair" and/or "tied hair" "loose hair" or something.

I'm not gonna lie - I'm pretty disappointed with what's on offer. I mean, yeah - at the end of the day it's a Final Fantasy game - but I think we're in dire need of some more 'normal' looking hairstyles for both men and women. I'd love some more short hairstyles for male characters that aren't too unusual.

Maybe I'm in the minority, though? I don't know - but I'm not even opposed to unusual hairstyles provided they look pretty cool...but I feel like most of the entries are just bland or blatant attempts to be 'pseudo-anime'.

Some of the styles are great, some are awful. I'm actually surprised a few of them made the finalists, they are so bad.

One of the female ones, in particular, looks like a mother who woke up on a Saturday morning, threw on some sweatpants, threw a scrunchie in her hair and went to the supermarket with her two kids.

I think the design team probably eliminated a lot of them based on, "meh that'd be too hard to build in Maya." Which is a perfectly valid reason to eliminate something.

I'm sad my friend Juzelle's didn't make the cut, though. She submitted the classic "anime tough girl" hairstyle - short in back, longer locks in front of the ears, and poofy bangs.

Male - 18 Since that is practically the only short style that is a different from what we have now. We have long dreads/locks, but none that are super short like this. I wish the Fade design was included too. Even though it was stolen, a stolen design that has never been put up to the game is still better than adding a design style, size or length that has either been used in the past, or follows a specific focus group over and over and over. We already have a cetain amount of bishonen hairstyles already(even though bishonen has been shown to work with short hair too), and the devs are bringing over female ones over to the males and cross races, so were not really in a fabio hair depression. Short hair on the other hand. Crew, Lock, Dread, Buzz, Modern Pompadour, simple short and weekend warrior styles are either very small or non existent. If I can have my highlander wear a thin skin tight flamboyant swimsuit to show my awesome muscles, I should have some flamboyant, manly hairstyles. And yes, FF is know for those too, say hello to V, VI, IX, XII and XIV.

Female - 23 This on the other hand might feel hypocritical of me, though this I see is different from the Ellezan because it doesn't have the tiny pony tail on the ends or copy paste bangs. As long as we have those, then we really don't have a hairstyle like this. All the styles we have either have both sides out leaving a disgusting bald forehead, or they get pushed to one side with a annoying bun or braid on the back of the head. Yes, I also like the long hairstyles for this. But know that the developers will have to consider the clipping issues these will have. So none of these will be exactly like the final product.

Leading back to why I like shor hair better, less clipping means more glamour/appearance consistency. And I expect my choices wont win, but enjoy your huge bishonen hair cuts dudes/gals playing dudes that are to much even for FF standards. And ladies enjoy you clipping nightmare cuts. I'll be enjoying my highlander master race desiring for TRUE masterpieces of haircuts
