Company-issue Survival Manual

Twice, I've used a Comapany-issue Survival Manual and had the buff mysteriously go away after less than 10 minutes. I thought it was because I was doubling up with a spiritbonding potion, but I checked the buff icons and they were both on screen at the same time. I've been doing leves in the Sea of Cloud and in the Churning Mists with the potions.

I've noticed that the buff is disappearing whenever I use my chocobo to fly around to the next node. Is this normal? It seems like a waste of my company seals if so.

I figured it out - its because the max amount of EXP that can be earned with the manual is 20,000 points. Since I'm level 56, I'm getting to 20k very quickly. Be forewarned, these are an utter waste of seals in high level gathering.
