What type of retainers should I have?

Um... Battle Class Retainers can't equip Job-related gear and weapons, glamour or otherwise. I just want to up my Retainers' item level and not only that but lessen the load of items on my character.

I've heard botany and fishing are the way to go, but I've also heard people are selling mining stuff by the truckload because of airships.

What job does your retainer have?

Just so you know whatever you pick the retainers level cap is dictated by what level you have the class at. So if you went miner and was only level 30 miner, thats the max level your retainer can go until you level miner up more on your character.

Well they increase the Retainer's level cap from 50 to 60?

Yes, retainers can reach level 60. Remember that the maximum level of your retainer is limited by the level you have reached on your character for that job. If you're only maxing a single job, then make sure your retainers are that job.

I used to have an Archer, Gladiator and Conjurer retainer as well as miner (they were all 50). I've since reset the Gladiator and Conjurer to be another Archer and a Botanist. I expect I will always have those jobs maxed out.

it's not only for glamour, it's very useful to get their iLv to go up. if i had an Arcanist retainer, i can't give her my Ravana SCH book after i upgraded to Esoteric book because it's SCH only.

I get that, but, there are no class usable weapons and gear, vendor bought or dropped from 4 man dungeons at 60? I know I'm not there yet, but, never had the problem when max level was 50.

I think upgraded Law weapon is the highest you can give your retainer atm.
