I was sure I saw a thread about this somewhere recently but I've searched and searched and can't find it. Perhaps I dreamt it?
I'm a proud member of The Maelstrom. When I play large scale PVP, I find one of the hardest things to adjust to is that my company's markers on the map are a combination of blue circles and green triangles, while the Flames are marked with blue triangles. The Adders are easy to avoid since their colour is nothing like mine, and if I was in the Flames it would be easier because the enemy would be red and yellow - completely different to the colours of my own alliance members. However, with the way things are I cannot even count the number of times I have failed to take proper evasive action in time because I have glanced at the map and mistaken enemy players for friendly ones.
I'm dumb, yeah, but given that colour blindness exists in various forms I don't think that my personal stupidity affects the validity of this suggestion. Changing to Flames isn't something I want to do.
The game has an option in the character settings to change your default colours for the names of members from other GCs, so I did this; Adders are their usual vivid yellow but I've changed Flames to hot pink (sorry) in order to improve visibility. It's brilliant. I love it. So long as I am within striking distance I can identify the other teams without any possible confusion.
However, the markers on the map are still the original colours, so Flames are a very mixed-up company with a black flag, blue markers and hot pink names in my version of the game.
Would it not be a good thing to allow players to customise the map marker colours in future to make the UI more friendly? Or perhaps this is already possible and I have missed a setting somewhere? It would make things so much more enjoyable if I could visually identify the enemy forces with a single glance at the map.
