Get Error 40201 as soon as you say Yes to the Patcher prompt in order to apply patch

I seem to have a unique one....

    ---------------------------
    FINAL FANTASY XIV Updater
    ---------------------------
    An update error has occurred.

    Error 40201

    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------
    is what I'm getting.

Have tried downloading the patch fully using uTorrent, the patcher itself [yes, waited ages for it], and also ready to try the other link (megaupload/rapidshare type link) thats floating about on here.

Havent had a problem / this problem with it on any of the previous updates since launch that i can think of

Not sure where to look and pretty annoyed - is there a page detailing these FF Patcher error codes anywhere?

The only thing that i can think of is that my Documents [where My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV\downloads\ffxiv\48eca647\patch\ resides of course] is located on network storage, rather than a local disk, and for some reason, this patch doesnt like it possibly.

Before every cries that im crazy or something, all the previous patches havent had a problem with it - including the almost as big as this one 1.18 patch

Cant seem to get anything configured [within the FF XIV config stuff] to change the location of where the patch is aka so it reads it off the local disk rather than of the NAS.

About to temp some fun stuff like Symbolic Links / Junction Points etc to try and get it to work in a minute, as i cant seem to shift the location locally... it still seems to hate me.

Given trying to find the error code doesnt give me anything, i've no idea whether its even got a bearing on it. Everything was fine before the patch so not sure why its doing it now.

Anyone seen this one or have any suggestions that might be worth a shot?

    Cheers

Was down to being on a Network drive in this case it seems.

Worked out the following for any one else running into this error now / in the future:

    - Changed the location of Documents / My Documents to a location on a local drive i.e. C:\MyDocsTemp (without choosing to move all your folders / files there - as we'll be changing it back to the current location after we are done)
    - Created My Games in this folder and copied the entire Final Fantasy directory to this temporary location (C:\MyDocsTemp\My Games\)
    - Placed the patch in the appropriate folder etc (if it wasnt there from the copying)
    - Run FF XIV and the launcher should succeed this time
    - Once complete, dont log in and cancel / close down FF down fully as you'll want to switch back to how you had things
    - After completion, the only files in this temporary Final Fantasy user files location that have changed that i could see were (in relation to our temporary location i.e. C:\MyDocsTemp\My Games\):
    1) ..\FINAL FANTASY XIV\downloads\downloaded_game_patch.list (its just blanked it now as the patch was installed)
    2) ..\FINAL FANTASY XIV\downloads\upnp_port_mapping.log (just a success check on the use of uPnP i believe)
    3) ..\FINAL FANTASY XIV\downloads\ffxiv\48eca647\vercheck.dat (an IMPORTANT file checking file i would estimate hehe)
    4) ..\FINAL FANTASY XIV\downloads\ffxiv\48eca647\metainfo\D2011.10.04.0000.torrent (redownloaded torrent file when kicking the patcher off again)
so I've then copied these files back to their respective places in the original location (where ever your Documents / My Documents folder was initially etc)
    - To finish, change the Location of Documents / My Documents back to whatever it was originally, and you should be all good to go again

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Be very careful regarding the above information, as this isnt a step by step guide detailing everything and would expect someone to only do this if you know what you are doing with this sort of thing and understand (to some basic degree) how a Windows user folder structure. and indeed the user structure of the FF XIV "downloads" section works. I take no responsibility if your installation breaks completely and/or your machine explodes or is otherwise ruined by this etc

Sorry if the above is a bit scatty, but its late and i'm quite tired from work, and following that, a gym session, so the brain doesnt quite work for writing howto's after all that

All the best and hope it helps people out (please credit me if u link this post or use the info elsewhere as it'd be appreciated but dont credit me if you destroy the OS or install or something - that'll be your own fault i'm afraid hehe)

    Cheers.
