The question of efficiency/potential isn't at all one of opinion; math will prove it out every time.

This is why sometimes I don't think it would be the worst thing if players had a built-in method for viewing basic healing and damage numbers; more of them might recognize the opportunity in their own gameplay when they start to wonder how two healers of the same Job can have comparable HPS in the same duty while one does no damage and the other weaves CS while still keeping up their healing requirement.

You should see the comments on that mmorpg.com article about healer DPS in this game.

People do not like being told to play well. It's much easier to convince yourself that your poor play is actually better somehow.

    1. True, but when you start late it feels "overbearing" and its easier to quit because you haven't done it all those ever levels.
    3. No. Its not. Good use of CS makes you more effective and efficient.

I let a party burn. Yup, eff y'all and die!

Wrapping up my final instance to unlock 50 roulette, which took me to Wanderer's palace hard. I stated I am new, but it didn't stop the tank from Leeroy-ing every chance he got. It is a HUGE pet peeve of mine to not make sure the new player is aware of the mechanics of the boss fights, especially if I am that new player running as healer. I asked politely not to do so after the first boss; it happened again at the second, and I again asked politely to at least let me buff the party with stoneskin and I was told to just heal and we'll be fine. It happened again at the last boss. I was already irritated from some botched synthesis prior to queueing, and this didn't help. So I let them all die.

I felt horrible afterwards. The tank then asked, "Can we get heals, please?" And I told them what I am telling you guys now. I said did I not say I was new? It doesn't take long to let me keep stoneskin on you pre-pull, and buff the party before a boss, during of which time you can make sure I am aware of the fight." When he told me that I should watch a video guide I almost wanted to abandon the duty. And when I told them they can kick me while I look up the guide right quick, a friendly DPS member told me to heal a doomed player to full to remove it. And there ya go. The main mechanic of the fight explained in two seconds. No issues after that, and got the clear. No thanks to the douche tank.

I honestly think the DPS members were cool, and just following the tank's lead. I was too slow, and pissed off. Felt like Edda as I watched them die.

So it is a peeve when it happens to you. But you disregard that other people may be peeved by you being lazy?
Most mechanics in dungeons are rather transparent to figure out on the fly. If you lack confidence in your own ability to do this, there is a wiki for you to prepare yourself. It is not the groups job to educate you. It is a situation you choose for yourself. I am not saying you must research to do dungeons. I am simply saying not to expect others to do the research for you if you are not skilled enough to react to the common mechanics on your own without a walkthrough.

I've let tanks die when they refused to pick up aggro. Don't wanna tank? Then I don't wanna heal.

Whatever. It isn't even about that, and FYI I always look up guides. I just been power running so many dungeons to unlock 50 roulette that I knew there was a doom mechanic in this fight, but forgot how to clear it. But I couldn't ask could I? Or in your own words I should just pick up on it because it's so transparent. Don't tell me anything about a lack of confidence.

This was more about how there are ready checks, countdowns, and first time announcements made to the group, and it pisses me off when people don't use them. Not just when it happens to me, but anyone. That this culture is always in such an effin rush that taking a few seconds just to make sure everyone was on the same page is unorthodox. And I really don't want to hear about the kagillion times veterans have ran them. It's not an excuse, and doesn't make it ok. Like I said before, if those three seconds were made to make sure I know how to clear doom was made from the getgo, the wipe never would have happened, and we would have been out of there much sooner.
