I've done fights where the dps fail mechanics and we get hit with status debuff and I refuse to cleanse them because who doesn't like a challenge. We clear the fight and I'm like, oh, um Selene was on cool down.
My confession:
People think I actually manage my pets... I've been using the AI since day one. It's yet to fail me...
I've also let veteran dps tank the floor for failing mechanics.

I think I'm going to stop giving heals since I stopped getting commendations.

Seriously tho.. There were a couple A5-6 runs last night that I basically solohealed. Not all, but some. My Weeping City run had 2 dps in my party that spend the whole run dc'd. I spent the whole run dpsing and healing like a boss.
Not even one commendation all night.
Wtf

Hahahahahaha, this is amazing. If I were in their shoes I would 100% respond to it and DPS properly - whether I had a legitimate reason for not doing so or not. I'm genuinely just laughing imagining that scene though; I like your way of thinking.
I very seldom commend anyone for simply doing their role, as demeaning to your efforts as that may sound. Were I in your shoes, I'm obviously going to try and pick up the slack too, but I'm unlikely to give anyone any more recognition for "carrying" than I would for them trying and failing - the same way I wouldn't expect recognition for doing so myself. If said person was a mute or had an attitude then chances are that I'm not going to commend them. I'd honestly favour an upbeat party member who failed a lot, apologised for doing so and cheered the survivors on than someone who's only apparent quality in that specific run was simply playing with a level of competence.Seriously tho.. Anyways, my point is that everyone has their own personal way of determining what warrants their commendation. For me, skill plays a small part in that. Attitude and personality are most important to me, but if the entire team was essentially mute or of the "gg" variety then I'll probably commend the person who carried if I were to commend anyone at all.

I've had scenarios like that and got nothing and had scenarios where I didn't do a whole lot and got a bunch. I think people just give to randoms or their friends in the group regardless of what they are.
I'm not sure if you can give commends to people that you queued together with as a party. In my experience, most people default commend to tanks or healers. There are parsers giving commends to people who do satisfactory damage for there roles, and there are also people who give commends based on the characters appearance.
I like handing out commends to people who keep their party members in mind, like Ninja's who goad without having to be told, or bards that actually use songs.

I wasn't sure if you could or not, I've never tried but it wouldn't surprise me lol. I usually do what you do.
It might be a coincidence, but I've noticed that when I use Dark Knight I get less or no commendations compared to when I use Paladin. I want to think I can play both at an above average level, so it made me feel like people had a think against DRKs haha.
It is annoying when you basically carry an entire party or alliance as a healer and you get nothing in return, though...
