Wearing a different colored gear is not equal to having a stone in your shoe. Something that affects gameplay, like the PL issue, is a stone in the shoe and should be fixed before 1.20. Different colored gear is asthetic only, just buy the best version until next patch. If you have a stone in your shoe and you see a park bench 100 yards away and decide to wait until you reach the bench to take off your shoe and shake the stone out, do you not feel the stone for those 100 yards?
The current state is the current state. 1.20 does not exist to us the players. And I never would have, in my wildest imaginings, foreseen them releasing the system we currently have, so I will temper my hope that 1.20 will in fact bring the a satisfactory remedy to this current system.
I'm not saying it's fine the way it is. But it's not affecting gameplay as bigger things.
Except the worthiness of aesthetics beside stats is an issue that differs between players - for me, it's very annoying, moreso than problems with my stats.Wearing a different colored gear is not equal to having a stone in your shoe. So yes, for me, the stone in the shoe analogy is correct. it mayn't be for you, but I think people need to start realising that just because they and possibly the majority care about one thing and not another, it doesn't automatically make decisions that hurt enjoyment of the game for other people, or damage pleasant secondary elements, a good idea when an alternative that would cause less problems for everyone is available. Especially when the choice the developers made was neither properly announced nor explained.
It is going to be a bloody sod having to fart about with this system until whatever point the developers see fit to implement the system that isn't broken (and it is broken. It might not be broken for the things that you consider important, but it's certainly broken for the things I and a fair few others think matter).

Why are you reaching to make a point ?You aren't Yoshi so know one gives a F*** about your personal speculation on future feature implementation by the Dev team. People in this thread were reacting to the current state of the dye-system and rightly so. We got an official response from Yoshi and there was language in it making apology and admitting mistakes were made in releasing it as it exists. So all the people who have expressed their displeasure have been justified.
1. I never implied I was Yoshi-p
2. I never implied that I knew what was guna happen.
I just simply had the common sense to wait and see what the dev team had planned.
Of course he appoligised because the majority of the people who play this game are whiny little babies and he has to passify you all so more players don't rage quit.
More importantly this thread did not get a response the Japanese one did, so don't fool yourself being the little white knight that it was your posts and responses that got the reply.
Like I said, I agree with wanting armor dyeable without it affecting stats. But Yoshi mentioned they have to rework the item databse to make that possible. It basically comes down to picking and choosing which feature is most needed for the game first, and aesthetic qualities WILL come last when laying down the framework.
Thanks for the polite reply but..Like I said, I agree with wanting armor dyeable without it affecting stats. But Yoshi mentioned they have to rework the item databse to make that possible. Are you really arguing that a broken dye system (and it really is kind of broken) that twists stats in ways that make very little sense and arbitrarily locks characters out of using pieces of gear with their chosen discipline based purely on colour, and then announcing it as the 'New, improved, all-purpose dye system!' was a move the game needed so desperately as to not either wait until it was working, find a way to mitigate the issues around, or at least explain properly?
I do sort of see where you're coming from, in that the changes were necessary in order to accommodate the implementation of materia and there wasn't time to get the systems it would effect in shape to release alongside, but this has been terribly poorly handled. Assuming Reinhart's post missed nothing important (hurry up please, rep's >.>) I'm beginning to feel that the system's implementation at this point makes some measure of sense. But they could have explained a lot better, and they could have made what they implemented a lot less annoying to bear with in the meanwhile (IE: no colour-based discipline-locks on otherwise identical equipment).
Sorry, that came off rather more combative and incoherent than I'd have liked and I'm not completely sure how to fix it. I must be getting tired.

Nope it wasn't my posts but this thread was linked in the JP thread so the thread as a whole did contribute to getting a response from Yoshi. The forums are for discussion and feedback. People have the right to voice their concerns when a patch is released and aspects of it dissatisfy the player-base.Why are you reaching to make a point ?

The PL thing does not effect me in the slightest. I can PL someone, not PL someone, or get PL'd or not get PL'd, it's my choice as of now. I can't make someone the gear in the color they'd like, or I can't make gear for myself in the color I'd like that directly affects me more. Thank you. That's a damn-sight more comprehensible than when I just tried to write it.The PL thing does not effect me in the slightest. And, all questions about what the rep's actually do and do not do aside, if all is as it ought be, Bayohne saw this thread and took our concerns to the developers as well. At the very least, someone would have said 'The English-speaking players are also throwing a fit' when the Japanese thread was discussed.
Which is significantly better than someone saying 'Well at least the English-speaking players are shallow enough to not care about it' instead.
Edit note: .. Huh, didn't notice both those posts were from Rowe. Oh well, thanks for being sane.
