Lol I don't want to bring this up but... Look at Guild Wars 2 dying system... So easy and basic. Not such a nuisance like XIV :/

Exactly, and you cant even dye it a different color after you've dyed it once. =/
Simple answer: They want to satisfy the crowd that want Requirement for wearing Items, at the same time they have yet to push out any new models, thus the Colored Gears are to be sacrificed for the "Greater Good". Enjoy your Requirement to wear.
But I never wanted required rank/class gear. = A= Not on crafted ones at least! Just on the gear that would drop from dungeons/raids/boss battles. Isn't that what everyone wanted? A way to separate the peasants from the elitists?
I thought they could be happy with having requirements on dropped gear. Alas...
Sorta a lame way to pull it off though. So a Conjurer can wear the regular Cobalt Armor and just not the color one for the extra stats. Why not just limit that armor to certain classes like we asked, but allow for us to dye whatever color we wanted, like we asked.
I remember a thread about optimal rank and how it was bounced around by Bayohne back and forth about how it was going away, but then came back to say never mind, and then came back to say that they confirmed it but never explicitly explained what they confirmed. While I liked the optimal rank it ensured people got to wear whatever it was that they crafted with no penalty but to themselves so help them, and that could have really been expanded up on later in the updates.
With no spirit binding, etc etc. But this is BEYOND helpful. This is beyond class uniqueness and baffles me to be honest. If they were going to do that I'd say to hell with it. Sacrifice wanting to wear it at a certain class (mind you they're still restricted) but then why even....Why even then go even further to cut those specific classes off as soon as it's dyed? That's not even allowing people who want to wear it for shits and giggles to even wear it.
And then they remove the optimal class from certain items like I believe...Doublet vests, correct? To no longer favour Alchemists or Weavers. Why the sudden change with no warning as well? It's maddening. And to say we're whining, I never asked for these changes. I just wanted a few more extra hues in the future and the pre-existing armours. Not for the dying system to be removed in favour of straight up dropping out of bushes and altering stats.
Where on earth did they get that from? D:

I hate to admit it but I THINK...I THINK they rationalized it by allowing a larger variety of classes to equip undyed versions...but then took away that allowance by dying them...And to make it a better trade off...attached stats to it. O_o;;
Yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. I shouldn't have to think twice about dying a piece of armor in case it was suddenly given stats I didn't want, or got a new requirement that resulted in me not being able to wear it anymore. Dying a piece of armor should be just that, changing the color because you like that color better. Changing stats based on color is just getting needlessly complicated.
This is further compounded by the fact that the materia system came in at the same time. I don't get it, they added materia so that we could take equipment and customize the stats, right? Why then, did they feel we needed colors to be tied to stats as well?
What we need here is two separate things:
Materia - Stat customization
Dying - Aesthetic customization
Just remove the silly stat changing with colors and all should be fine, here...
