Here's my question, though. If he's going to go so far as revamping the equipment system again (i.e. separating textures from color and separating color from stats) what will happen to the equipment we got as of 1.19? Will it become obsolete and dated again so we'll again need to replace it?
I think the item data swap was to implement the materia info in, hopefully they had already thought of the coloring system and it's in the item data already just being hidden or turned off for now. Here's my question, though. Anyways 32 color variations of subligar.... this will be awesome!!!! it's like walking into Victoria Secret!!
I would assume those new gears are templates for the new system and their present colours will be replaced with the null texture and free dye application later, but you're right, that does deserve an answer. Especially given the stat and class restrictions currently in effect 'because of colour'.Here's my question, though. Can I get a dev response as to why some colored gear is only equippable by certain classes?
An undyed felt (or woolen, I forgot) gown can be equipped by all classes. But the colored versions of them can only be equipped by DoH. Why is that?
Why can't dyes be used for all classes?I didn't know this is how it was going to work.
Kind of makes me sad... but I guess...I can... see what they were trying to do? /shrug/
Thank you very much for the preliminary translation, Reinheart! I am (tentatively) glad to hear that the dye system will be less restrictive and offer more color choices in the foreseeable future.
Though now I am wondering if I should bother with getting a new set of "optimal" gear and customizing it with materia now. I'd hate to go through the trouble and expense only to have to do it again once my gear is released in a color I actually like. Ah well, 1.20 is probably at least a couple months away, so maybe I'll just attach a few materia but not go all out.
Personally, I find customization to be very important, so the new color system was one of the biggest issues for me with 1.19. I realize that people care about different things, but I hope those that do not care about color and customization can at least try and understand that a significant number of your fellow players do find these things very important.![]()
That is an interesting thought, it would be a pain to optimise your gear only to lose it when applying a new dye.Though now I am wondering if I should bother with getting a new set of "optimal" gear and customizing it with materia now. I really hope this isn't the case, I guess I'd have to opt for not dying it though.
This was a stupid change - people are accustomed to choosing their dye colors.
All they really needed to do was add this small bit of info about future changes to colored gear and wouldn't of have all region rise up with thread about this one. At least it's coming... hopefully by 1.20
