This is my take on it:

Content like extreme primals and Alexander savage are designed to stomp on your face, leave no room for error, and punish groups that are not properly geared. These kinds of battles take lots and lots of time for probably most people and can't be easily cleared in a single DF session or two. The fights are big trial and error and lots of practice. I think Square wants people to form their own groups and learn together so that not only they can do better in the content, but they can learn from each other and be in sync after lots of runs. DF is a one and done deal for most content and are designed to be run over and over again for certain grinds (tomestones, leveling, etc).

Let's say that you COULD do Alexander savage in the DF and your first group is doing ok, but not good enough to actually clear it. You move onto a new group of players matched up with you and they're horrible at the execution because half of them are brand new to the fight and will take a long time to learn from the mechanics. You'd keep going through multiple groups over and over again, hoping that the next 7 people you meet will all click with each other.

Sad to say, but if your RL schedule and duties are that hectic for you, then raiding may not be suited for you.
