    Easy Black Mage improvements!!!

    Hello,

    First off, I am not a normal forum poster, and I have not read all the previous forum posts to its entirety, so I do not know if this was posted previously. I also am not in my thoughts a LEET BLM, but I enjoy the class and have done so since I first subbed. I have noticed a few things personally that would do wonders for the BLM in this 3.x age that would both help and also give us back our glass cannon feel. Please don't rip apart my suggestions, as they are just that. Ty.

    1. First suggestion: Since 3.05 we were given a "buff" to Enochian in the patch notes. It was there to allow us to refresh Enochian back to 30secs each time we utilized blizz IV. This would have been exceptional and on the right road for us, however, if others have noticed, it hasn't taken effect even now in patch 3.07. So I would suggest to actually owe up and give us that which was listed in the previous patch notes instead of hallow promises.

    2. I would also suggest that Enochian could become a regular buff, that doesn't have a timer, and won't fall off. That it remains active until cancelled, similar to other buffs that other classes have to increase their damage. This would get away from the whole moving and it falling off discussion and afford movement in certain instances. Now for the Blizz IV, since that refreshes Enochian, it would be obsolete, but not if you allow it to be granted higher potency and to give UI III status.

    3. If the above is outrageous, I would also suggest maybe an extended timer on the Astral Fire and Umbral Ice statuses, Similar to increases to other timers afforded other jobs/classes. I would suggest to increase the timers from 10secs to either 15/30secs to give more of a mobility in harsh fights and allows more flexibility in our rotation.

    4. I also suggest to take away the nerfs of our Flare, its a class skill that was famous and was useful. Our AoE use to be marvelous, but it was too harshly nerfed and should be restored back to its previous status, affording the increase in lvl and gear for our lvl 60 selves.

    5. I would also like to see some modification of our other talents/spells. We rarely utilize or have need for most of our other spells. Sleep?! when and why to use it now, and if used, it has no effect on any or most 3.0 creatures. Apocatastasis, other than coil, why?! Lethergy and Atherial Manipulation??? What about surecast?! Oh and please tell me when as a lvl 60, have we used Freeze?? For the majority of these new 3.x fights Manawall/ Manaward doesn't do that great, and doesn't negate what it should!!! These talents/spells have minimal use, and they do define us as a class, but why pile our bars with in other words useless spells? We could repurpose them, similar to the repurpose of the spell tri disaster / tri bind that the SMN's received. Most other classes have a minimal of these "useless spells" but we have way too many.

    Those are just the top 5 of my suggestions, and I have tons more, as most of us do. I just can see these being a very good avenue to start down in the route of improving a once amazing class, now turned gimp because of strict and rigid timer limitations. Sorry for the following replies, that was the only way I could fit everything into this one thread, Seems there is a limit character limit >.<

    I definitely agree that it would be a great QOL update for AF3 and UI3 to last a little longer. Sometimes, just dodging an AOE can ruin the whole rotation.

    Would make more sense if Enochian instead had charges instead of time limits. That way you can dodge and utilize procs however you wished. Oops that sounds like SMN.

    Sadly the 3.05 buff was not to B4 refreshing Enochian, but the 60s CD Enochian ability itself refreshing Enochian, which is where we are now.

    But yes, having B4 simply refresh Enochian back to the full 30s would solve the biggest problem w/ current gameplay wherein the rotation tries to delay refreshing Enochian for as long as possible (to make the most use of the allotted duration), but if you are then "mechanic-blocked" from casting B4 in time, you are screwed for a good 30s.

    Now if B4 simply refreshed Enochian to the original 30s, then the rotation could be adjusted such that you plan to refresh when its around 10s. So 20s of Fire/Thunder time, and then a 10s window to refresh, every time. With that in place the only way to lose Enochian is to really mess up your rotation, get overly greedy with the Fire/Thunder phase, or lose your target... But if you are doing it right to begin with, you'll have the Enochian ability available for when your target reappears.
