Timelines in games are not exactly linear nor do they correlate to real life. You can have players that are just beginning the MSQ interacting with players that had completed the MSQ in its entirely. Time in the gameverse is not the same as time in the metaverse.

I am 100% for making all items available through some means. Time-gating items and making them forever unobtainable again is really... silly. And it just makes new players feel bad/unable to complete collections.
I'd agree on this, with one exception. The tattoo's entire purpose is to mark people that stuck with them through 1.0. That and ((Obviously)) the slightly different story outline can be lost forever to us who joined after they made FFXIV cool again.

Also, to the timeline, yeah, the real world timeline would pretty much HAVE to be considered separate from the game timeline. General belief is that since our arrival in the city states, we've spent a little under a year, I think? Come October and we'll have had three Halloweens.

It marks nothing other than they logged on once during a specific timeline. Which could have been during the free campaign. Logging in at a specific time =/= support. That is all I am going to say about this.

Make everything available. If something should be special or show support, make it really hard to get and/or expensive.

"Users with service accounts that paid for at least 90 cumulative days of subscription for the original version of FFXIV between January 6, 2012 and suspension of 1.0's billing services on September 29, 2012 became eligible for Legacy benefits in A Realm Reborn."

Chaz should change "stuck through 1.0" to "chose to pay to play FFXIV 1.0 between X and Y to support the creation of A Realm Reborn," but I also felt that I needed to point out that players with Legacy benefits were required to pay to play FFXIV 1.0 once the free campaign had ended.

The tattoo is not a part of the legacy status benefits, they are separate things. It is not accountwide and was available to any and all characters that logged on during the specific time, regardless of their financial contribution.

The tattoo was given to characters who cleared the quest "United We Stand (Grand Company)" Sitting around for 90 days would not have given you the Legacy Mark

That quest is required to view the alternate cutscenes. There are tattooed characters who have reported not having the alternate cutscenes (though this may have been a bug). Either way, that requires no financial contribution or support as it could have been done during the free campaign.

I may need to be corrected by someone who was actually there, but I was under the impression that the "Free Campaign" was only open to people that had been paying prior to the game being tossed essentially back into beta.
