^ I believe this is what the OP is referring to.
(On phone, so can't seem to figure out how to link it)
That was another place I saw it, yes.
No, put in new events not old ones.
Hiding my response to that since it's a complete off-topic sidenote to this thread ^_^Fun fact of the day: Most people who hate XIII haven't actually played it.
(Note: There are a good chunk of people who have legitimate complaints about the game who have played it, but 80% of the hate is "I heard it's a hallway simulator and Lightning is a girl I'm not playing as a girl gross ew")
I didn't mind that Lightning's a female protagonist at all; the more of those we get, the better. I far preferred Fang, though, due to personality and colour scheme.
I did mind the hallway simulation part of it. I know that a lot of games tend to be indirect hallway simulators, basically saying "here you have a huge room, but there's only one entrance and only one exit", but I far prefer that type of illusionary freedom to the narrow "no exploration, we don't want you to explore" hallways of the first 10 or so chapters of the game. Especially that first part. They could "easily" have added one or two other walkways, with possibilities to jump/swing/climb across, still have kept "entry A, exit B" but allowed a little bit more choice in how to get to the exit (do I want to go to walkway 2 for this stretch to avoid that group of enemies, or do I run everywhere and kill everything?), and it would have made it a lot more bearable for me personally.
I also minded the personalities of pretty much all the characters (whinge, whine, complain.... 180-turn let's do this... 180-turn omg we can't), which is a harder thing (IMO) for a game developer to change without changing the plot/story altogether.
In a way it was. In a way it wasn't.
Originally, the Lightning event came to Eorzea when they released Lightning Returns in Japan (around November/December 2013, IIRC). Then it reoccurred when Lightning Returns was released in the west (around February/March 2014, IIRC).
Then, possibly due to how many people begged for them to run the event again, possibly due to wanting another shot at promoting that game series, they decided to have the event one more time during the Anniversary event. So yes, it was part of the Anniversary event, but that's not the origin of it, so to speak. =)
(The FFXI and DQX events were also released prior to the Anniversary events, both of them around the end of January 2014.)
Please don't mix fan service with what her original appearance in Lightning Returns which looks nothing like that.
Anyway, some people have legit concerns concerning XIII series, but I can never take the 'Hallway Simulator' thing seriously since other games have done this and made huge success. *Stares at X*
The other which -WAS- Auto Battle to victory which can be true for a good portion of the game, but near the end you will need to actually utilize some of the mechanics to pull through.
Another was unlikable cast which I can agree for the most part. XIII's cast was really hard to like. Sazh was probably the most realistic character of the group. Anyway, different people, different strokes when it comes to liking cast.
I think all past items and character customization should become available to either buy in the mog station or earn in game. There is really no reason to gate new players from cool things that they want. You do not have to all be special snowflakes, people, it is ok. You will still be the unique you.
I have the lightning gear and I support allowing them to be available for new players.

I personally like I said wanna see the event come back so I can get the chance to actually get the stuff...who really cares about being special on a video game? It seems pointless to me lol...so yeah a return of this would be very enjoyable to me since I never got to do it.
It really is pointless. Especially all of this screaming of "YOU WERE NOT THERE!!!" that comes about when requesting that previously obtainable items be made again. This includes past promo events and yes even 1.0 items.
Timelines in games are not exactly linear nor do they correlate to real life. You can have players that are just beginning the MSQ interacting with players that had completed the MSQ in its entirely. Time in the gameverse is not the same as time in the metaverse.
I am 100% for making all items available through some means. Time-gating items and making them forever unobtainable again is really... silly. And it just makes new players feel bad/unable to complete collections.
