I was given a 16 digit code for ordering. only thing is that all the instructions are in Japanese. would really like some help in where to go to redeem the minion

ive gone to the mogstation already. for the item code it asks for a 20 digit code

If you have a physical copy, the code is on the inside of the paper cover that was outside of the CD case.

That 16 digit code is likely for Japanese SE members.

I kind of want to buy this but I'm balking at the fact they charge €15 ($17) for shipping alone...

Yeah, the slip of paper with the 16 digit code is for the Square Enix Members Japanese site. It's kind of like club nintendo was, points for every game you buy that can be redeemed for physical goods or free digital downloads. They don't have an equivalent outside of Japan, and the rewards can't be mailed internationally, to my knowledge. I remember getting a few goodies from them when I lived in Japan.
