Since this is about housing questions I ask one too:

Is there any way to turn off that bright ceiling light? I want a moody, dark atmosphere where the light comes from small wall fixed lights and a fireplace.

The only thing you can do is cover the light with furniture. Also some of the lights are dimmer than others. I believe the morbol light is the dimmest. But your best bet is to cover it with walls / pillars. It will block out the light.

Yeah that's next to impossible to do in the personal room of a FC house. :/

Lets hope they add the lighting option to those too and don't make it FC house wide.
