New Housing questions!

I wasn't able to watch most of the live letter but, forgive me if my information is incorrect, this feature will essentially allow up to 5 "roommates" to have housing controls just like if it was their own personal house.

Now I have several questions regarding this topic:
1) Has SE announced if shared houses will have private chambers like FC houses? I would think they would since 5 people can share a house together, but of course, it may not happen.

2) Have there been any talks on how payment would work? I would assume it would be the same as it is now but if you and a few friends or your spouse want to buy a property you'd just trade the percentage of gil you are putting down on the house to one person and they buy the house that way.

3) Has SE confirmed which patch shared housing would be released in and also have they said anything about housing wards in Ishgard?

There wasn't a lot of info posted on housing that I remember. So far in the latest Live Letter they said the following about Company and Housing (Source 1, Source 2):

Plans for Land for Housing
We’re thinking of ways to make empty lands. First, we would like players to create houses on these empty lands, then once the moving feature is implemented, we’re looking into either adding more land into existing housing areas, or to create new housing areas in Ishgard.

House Sharing Feature
We'll be adding a system that will allow you to give furnishing and gardening rights to five people of your choosing.

Interior lighting feature
We'll be adding a furnishing that will allow you to adjust the brightness levels inside of your house.

Renaming Free Companies
We'll be making it possible to change the name of your free company. However, once doing this, you won’t be able to do it again for a set period of time.

Removal of Inactive Houses
We'll be adding a system that removes houses that are not in use. We’ll be announcing the criteria for removal in the future.

1) No they haven't announced that house mates will get private chambers like FC houses. I don't think this is something that we should expect when they release the feature. Private chambers are restricted to FC's and will probably stay that way. The suggestion of private chambers for house mates is a neat idea though.

2) Purchasing a house is also likely not going to change. It's a personal home (1 person buys), and then they can invite others to do things with the property but they alone still own it. If a group of friends/spouses not in the same FC wanted to pitch in together then one person would buy and invite the others to share certain features.

3) Ishgard housing isn't confirmed. They are working on a housing transfer system first, then will be looking at either adding more land to existing housing areas or new Ishguard housing. My bet is that they'll add on to the existing areas. I don't think we'll see housing in Ishgard until much much later, if at all.

Is there any way to turn off that bright ceiling light? I want a moody, dark atmosphere where the light comes from small wall fixed lights and a fireplace.

The only thing you can do is cover the light with furniture. Also some of the lights are dimmer than others. I believe the morbol light is the dimmest. But your best bet is to cover it with walls / pillars. It will block out the light.

Haha nice! Thank you for all of that info! It'll be a very interesting sight to see how they work the house removal feature. Hopefully the people who share houses with us would be able to teleport to the aetheryte in front of the house.

The lighting adjustment feature is a much need feature. Its small but I still can't wait for it. Lower lighting can make a room look twice as good as it is with full bright lighting.

The only thing you can do is cover the light with furniture. Also some of the lights are dimmer than others. I believe the morbol light is the dimmest. But your bets bet is to cover it with walls / pillars. It will block out the light.

Yeah that's next to impossible to do in the personal room of a FC house. :/

Lets hope they add the lighting option to those too and don't make it FC house wide.
