The Market Board is not the primary source of gil in this game. In fact, it's not a source of gil at all. All it does is transfer around the gil that has already been made from quests, FATEs, dungeons, leves, etc. It's the rate at which those primary sources provide gil that determines how much is reasonably available at any given point. And low-level quests, leves, FATEs, etc, don't pay out as much as high-level ones.
Yes the MB is the medium where one accumulate gil, not generate it, but at the same time it is the best way to accumulate and be a a Rich merchant.

They need gear too, and aren't going to be spending the sort of gil you don't make until endgame. Prices should be appropriate to the item, which means pricing low-level gear towards the new player (or new character) market.
Actually, most of the people buying gear from the MB are either buying leve turn ins or are leveling a second character. Questing gives enough gear that new players don't tend to look on MB for anything better.

I don't believe what I'm reading here. People with a decent understanding of economics? People with an understanding of how supply and demand works?

What's next? People being nice to each other? I don't know if I want to keep playing this game anymore...

I don't recall getting ANY gear from questing after I did Ifrit and before the "prepping you for HW" quests. Everything I got was from dungeons.
