Yes, it works just like the raise spell. The Weakness Debuff is a consequence of getting rezed by any method.

The problem is, It's unique item status makes it compleatly worthless. You can rez people who aren't in your party, you can't rez in battle with it, and you can only carry one at a time.

As it sits they are 100% worthless. I just carry one because every now and again I can rez a healer that went down durring a pull or boss battle and save them the walk back.

I got my dps to carry some when we sac and pulled in dungeons in 2.0 era ( amdapor and wanderers pre nerf and pre barrier spam )
Before SE smartened up and added barriers and walls everywhere we i used to gung ho thru the dungeon as the tanks were like " wuts sac and pull ".

So instead i died and had dps pheonix down me.

i see. well, i can understand why they are the way they are. unique and can't be used in battle. 1.) a revive costs a lot of MP. which would be a pointless contingent to work around if the Phoenix Down was more useful. 2.) if they could be held multiple and used in combat... there are probably some mechanics/phases that could make some major encounter noticeably easier if you were to just let someone die then revive them afterwards. again, the party/healers should have the contingent of a high cost spell to work around.

but at the same time... it still applies Weakness.

i think the item would be fine in its current if it just didn't apply Weakness. i think ANY out-of-combat revive shouldn't apply Weakness. meh.

I think for the most part people aren't asking for not being unique and being able to use in battle, it's a preference to have one or the other because both restrictions make the item all but useless. Keep it unique, but allow it to be used in battle. Or keep it so that they still can't be used in battle, but let players carry more than one and be more free to use them to help other players out. Of course removing the unique status would also require adding more ways to acquire.

Your idea of skipping weakness through them is also another change that could make the item more interesting and useful.
