    Gardening Topsoil needs better yields

Currently you're only able to get a single Grade 3 Topsoil every hour. Getting Grade 2 and Grade 1 Topsoil is extremely slow as well -- I've bounced between nodes 300 times and only have 4 Grade 2 Topsoil to show for it.

    Possible solutions:
-Remove the Rare tag on these items, so you can gather more than one per node.
-Make Grade 1 and 2 Topsoil appear more often.

Either of these would be great. There are barely any players selling Grade 1s and 2s, so I think a change to them is necessary at the very least.

You can send mining retainers out for the first two grades, although they only come back with one at a time so it's still slow. I'd be all for making those grades easier to get.
I'm actually okay with grade 3 as it is. The limit forces cooperation if it's an FC garden or dedication if it's a personal one. But that should be just for the top grade, as a reward for the effort.

I just use the grade 3 topsoils. sure it's only from unspoiled nodes, but you can generally keep up with your usage if you hit the unspoiled nodes whenever they are up -- it's not like the plants finish in under a day anyway.

    I'd like to see three new Grade 3 soils mined in Heavensward areas that have a combination of two of the 2.x soil features. For example;
    1) An Ishgardian Soil that increases yield & HQ rate.
    2) A Dravanian Soil that increases yield & cross breeding.
    3) An Abalathian Soil that increases HQ rate & cross breeding.

That would potentially reinvigorate gardening which has gotten very stale. It would also be great if they introduced new seeds and crosses, especially as the whole Botanist 50+ quest line is about doing so!

I don't catch them up often enough to keep up usage, I also would rather just use lower grades than have to go hit a node every hour. But, using lower grades is actually more of a chore, which is a bit ridiculous.

ahh that can be a problem
I usually set up a timer on garland tools for the shroud soil (as that's the only one I use anymore) and can generally get about 4-5 a day, but I'm only growing krakka roots for my chocobo really

and yea I started using grade 3 because ironically grade 2 were more effort to try and get ...

    Greetings, gardeners!

    Thanks for the feedback.

The dev. team is aware of this, and currently considering increasing the amount of soil that can be yielded. We're hoping to make this adjustment in Patch 3.4.

That's a pleasant thread necro! Any details in regards to if it's just the lower grades or if yield will be increased for all of them?

That's exactly what I've been hoping for in the past few days. It's crazy only getting one soil per Eorzean hour or venture. As grades 1 & 2 are just hidden drops on normal nodes there's no reason why retainers can't bring higher

I run 17 gardens on two servers, also 19 flowerpots. I am paying as much as 15K for G 3 topsoil. It rarely got over 9K before 3.3. Grade 1 T went from 1 - 2K to 5.

But I am still able to turn a profit. I earn millions of gil for my FCs* each RT week.

Mind you I am not against higher yields or new types of soil. Just saying that if you study gardening you will always be able to turn a profit.

*Running gardens selflessly for my FCs is how I get to manage so many gardens. I REALLY like gardening.
