sell it for good gils to the npc!
Don't Do This!!!!!!!!
Alumen is required for essentially every Leather Working recipe, and NPC vending your gathered goods really hurts the overall economy of the game.
Share you mats, sell your mats for 1 gil, sell it for what the NPC would buy it at, sell it for 5k a piece, Just don't vend it.
It's pure profit, especially, especially, especially with Alumen. You can earn stacks upon stacks within minutes at the higher ranks. If you're actively trying for it, double that. Don't be greedy.

This may varies from server to server. On my server, I vended Alumen at 500 g which is already cheaper than what NPC sells (640) but no one would buy it even after 3 days. Ended up NPC'ing them because I generally get 2 full stacks of Alumen per day if I am mining.
By the way, to be able to find specific ore or gemstone you want, you should aim for its specific "sweet spot." For example, when I mine for Electrum Ore at Nophica's Wells, I aim at +4. I would get or hit an Electrum Ore about half of the times.
Still, Alumen is much more common to find at many of the mining areas.

Don't be greedy.true, Alumen is sometimes less than 100 gil on my server, due to an oversaturated market. Since the economy lives on "buy low, sell high", it's good to know what an item npc's for, and whether or not you can make a worthwhile profit. This may varies from server to server. To sum up: If it's selling lower than the npc will buy, then npc; If it's selling much higher than what the npc will offer you, then sell at the market wards, but at a price lower than the current rate.
No but what I'd like to know is WHERE can we mine OTHER stuff now?

Hehe.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the alumen spike.
Ah, so this is where the prime location is then?
I've been running around Bearded Rock looking for the stuff for my Dodoskins.![]()
To be more specific, the patch notes here list everything gatherable near every camp.
