This is what they did with Warrior's animations from 1.23 to 2.0. Yet now they did the sluggish moves for Dark Knight. I liked the old warrior's animation speed more, looked more powerful and authentic. I mean, those axes must weigh about the same as the greatswords... Why are Warriors capable to move them like they weigh almost nothing?

    Funny you mention this.

Real "medieval" great swords typically weighed less than 8 lbs, many of them far lighter.

Double-bladed "battleaxes" like most of the WAR weapons, though? They typically weighed at least as much, but were generally terribly balanced or less effective than other, similar weaponry, and were thus not used for warfare. Consider this: what practical use is two symmetrical blades on an axe over a single blade? None. In fact, dual-faced axes tended to have an axe head on one side, and another weapon head on the other, such as a hammer or spike (or both). Due to its ineffectiveness, the historical double-bladed "battleaxe" was actually symbolic or ceremonial. Their use in combat is very much fantasy.

As is this game. So, if WARs really were to swing around gigantic, double-bladed axes, then they would, indeed, need to be much heavier than great swords merely due to the size difference. Even if they were weighted similarly, wielding a double-bladed battleaxe would result in heavier swings due to the weapon being extremely top heavy. Their single-bladed axes, however, could be even lighter than most of the great swords available in the game.

But...that's enough of a history lesson. Just thought I'd share some interesting facts.

Skating Unleash is indeed one of the worst parts of playing DRK, although this happens with every melee job. For example on the PLD, there's the Skating Rage of Halone, and the Skating Riot Blade. Personally, I'm willing to accept these defects for actually having these animations; it is worlds better than certain other games where attack animations only has two or so variations for all skills together.

Back in WoW I had no time and no interest in watching character animations, one of the main reasons was because of the very limited variations available. But in FFXIV I often find myself enjoying these combat animations.

Neither involve you plunging a solid metal object into the ground, and then floating around as though it were a spoon moving through yoghurt.

I just want some more NOISE. I swear for a class wielding arguably the largest weapon in the game and summoning the inner rage as power we are as quiet as a newborn baby.

At least it's not MCH bad.

Both could use some audio work.

Unleash sure but the rotations are so silent it's almost disturbing.

Blood Sword + Blood Price (or whatever it's called)=makes me hate the sound effect of recovering MP.
