what is this? (Valerian Fusilier's Gambison)

hello. i just picked up an item in the dungeon, and see something i am unsure of.

if we look at the image we can see what appears to be some kind of knife. however, what is that thing on it?

like... you can see the blade and handle. you can see how the knife is strapped in to some kind of sheathe. but there is something else strapped up with it too... what is it? anyone?

the best i can think of is that the knife isn't meant as a weapon and that other thing is some kind of tool for something.

considering the knife is strapped in i would say it is meant for hunting. like gutting or skinning. but whatever that other thing is... i don't know. :/

no. not that. the thing that is right on top of the blade. it is strapped in with the knife. yeah, that other thing would have to be a canteen... i assume.

I thought that was the handle until now, and it was a flick knife. I imagen its a tool used by a fusilier? (Someone who uses a musket)

That or some kind of club weapon.

it doesn't appear to be a handle, you can see the handle of the knife at the top. however, the thing does appear to be connected to the knife in some way. otherwise it would just fall downwards, as it doesn't seem to actually be secured by the strap.

i don't think the knife or the other thing is a weapon. i think you would be better off hitting the enemy with your bow. i guess it could be used if you somehow got disarmed. but being strapped in seems a little too inconvenient for a weapon.

It's the piece of leather with the small metal disk in it that curves just to the left of the skining knife correct?

And yes, that is a skinning knife for seperating the cartalage and soft tissue from the hide/pelt. It'd be 100% worthless as a wepon as they dont typically have a shapenes edge.

As for the mystery object, could it be a powder horn sheath? I really cant tell what it is from that angle.

I feel like that thing with the small metal circle is the knife handle. The thing you see behind it I feel is what attaches to the belt basing off of the colour as well since it looks to be the same colour as the sheathe.

Its clear that the wood piece behind is the handle, the other curved object with the metal circles either end is something separate, cant see very well from second image but is clear ingame. Last image is a bit more clear from the back of it showing that its not attached to the knife. Still think its some kind if bludgeon.

Yea, almost certanly looks like a club. To what effect though I have no idea. I think the Valarian Gear is a throw back to an old RPG so if it is that game may help identify it.
