Yeah, still don't know why this is for debate.
Yeah, still don't know why this is for debate.

Because it's a forum which by definition: a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.
AKA A place to debate.
It'll likely be a dps class. We still don't have a proper sword class as a dps and we don't have any dps that carry the same armor classifications that dragoons do. For the sake of inventory space I seriously hope they consolidate to slightly more concise gear categories as more jobs are added and if that's the case we need a job to fit next to dragoon. But more than anything else I really just want a sword based dps class finally.
Maybe if we all learn to read we wouldn't jump down other's throats so quickly.
Read my sentence again and notice the symbol at the end.

Since they gave SCH a fairy when I'm pretty sure they have never had them in past FF's, I'm gonna go ahead and say there's a high possibility of them at least considering giving SAM dual wield...
Also, it's pretty odd to say "give them laser guns Idc" but be so against something like dual wielding SAM, lol.

I personally don't care for dual wielding types, its clunky and nowhere near as effective as people seem to think, so yes i'll fully admit that I would be disappointed to see one of my favorite classes turn from a powerful warrior to a ballerina. We have ninja already. I'm going with my gut here, but your dealing with a class that has alot of love for it's favored weapon in this game series which has always been some form of the katana. FF Samurai do not exist without this as otherwise they would be fighters. To this date with the exception of subbed abilities from other jobs, samurai have always favored a 2 handed weapon style based on kenjustu. It efficient and powerful.Since they gave SCH a fairy when I'm pretty sure they have never had them in past FF's, I'm gonna go ahead and say there's a high possibility of them at least considering giving SAM dual wield...

Rex! Its you! I haven't seen you since we tanked first coil together ._. Hey!!
If SAM gets laser guns MCN will scream nerf.
I don't want them to give SAM dual wield I want them to give it a big ass Katana, but thats a bit sameish to DRK so I kind of hope SAM isnt a tank.
But then again I want RDM to be a dual wielding tank with abilities that like Noctis' from XV and the rest of the player base seems to want it as a DPS. I am so alone ._.

I didn't say that was all they did.
I have been toying around in my head with the idea that RDM would have 2 seperate GCDs, one for physical skills and one for magical.
Physical skills buff the RDMs magical skills/defence and debuff the enemy to the RDMs abilities (eg, a debuff would have to be on the boss for bonus effects from magic to land) and in terms of the bosses damage.
Magical skills deal the majority of the damage and create emnity.
So it may have a fairly DRG style fixed rotation in either melee or magical skills depending on what you need to do, but the combos would be of different lengths meaning the ability cycle is much longer.
Or maybe a wheel style system for magic where a spell gets either a damage or emnity (etc) buff dependant on the element of the spell you are currently casting, and the previous one cast, so you could for example work your way forwards round the elemental wheel for damage, or backwards for hate, but each element would have its own aspected effect (Ltg is a dot, so either high hate over time or high damage over time, fire is AoE high hate or damage, continue with 6 different aspects for 6 different elements)

I think dual wielding is more for the aesthetics than the actual combat impact of dual wielding. A lesson learnt from XI.
