If these Chemists could have additional effects when using items, it would really give a reason for people to craft and use items outside of Arbitrary Tier of Stat potions.
Could mix and have different effects for buffs similar to AST cards but based on Rikku's mix command in FFX. Mixing different abilitkes results in lowered mp use/tp use/haste/etc. Their lv3 LB would have to be Megalixir, but obv would just heal HP and Raise. Dps skills could be the various poison/venom potions but named differently from actual items, a napalm bomb that acts like Flaming Arrow, cluster/frag bombs and cast animations could be the Chemist mixing powders and vials together. Their main weapon could be uhhh a single wield knife? Or maybe a hand gun (opposed to MCH's rifle), or a beaker but that seems kinda dumb. Maybe a Mace since maces don't really exist in this game outside of Armorer and Blacksmith weapons.
Damn this is a dope idea. I might even rich my beloved SCH if SE added a similar class

Well as far as I know chemistry doesn't equal to alchemy. The DoH class is called alchemist, not chemist(in english translation of the game atleast.)We already have a chemist but as a DoH rather than a DoW/DoM. I have no idea how will they implement this. If they're being gated by items, this will even be a bigger issue since you can't make potions mid fight... Unless Move-Find-Item will be part of its trait. It would even be more interesting if they were a DoW instead of a DoM.
As for "crafting mid fight" you talked about, I'd assume the class doesn't use any consumables for that but instead similar system to Mudras. If the class would be based on "combining materials/crafting potions" to make different healing effects that is.
Maybe it'll work like nothing any of us has though.

I think a chemist would use tp. Healing moves could be potion, hi potion, X potion. Elixir and megalixer for aoe heals. But these would be different from their item counterparts. Maybe a tonic to restore mp to party members. And of course a Phoenix down.
And because he's making all these from scratch, there would have to be a mix/prep time (instead of a cast bar)
And OMG a de-buffing class. Poison flask. Sleep flask. (Cant think of any more off the top of my head)
weapon could be a mortar and pestle.
Maybe bombs for attacking. We could even use the "flask de-buffs" to coat the bombs.
How about a "concentration" stance where you actually sit down to focus on your mixing, but it increases potency and range of heals.
I don't like the idea of having to use actual items. But Chemist as a support healing class that uses a mix of MP and TP sounds nice. Mixing and matching certain spell combinations to get certain powerful heals/buffs and the same thing for debuffs. Maybe have very powerful mixed heals and debuffs to compensate for the build up time.
