1.19 seems like a sweet patch to me. I think 14 is finally getting cleaned up and fun. Just my opinion. MMO's are supposed to be about interacting with other players...

wild enemies are more suited for party groups while leves are more solo friendly.

    Really another...ANOTHER one of these.

Can't we just fight mobs our own level?

Same level as you enemy gives like 350-500 XP.

Pre-patch enemy same level as you kill get 50-90 SP. An enemy 10 levels above you was also easier to kill then an enemy now at your level and gave you 250 SP. So NOW you WIN!!! more XP!!

The only difference is now they make you kill things your level...and the other difference is it gives you more XP. So um...the only thing different is it's easier to level now if you kill things AT YOUR LEVEL.

What level are you? Because it does make a difference on EXP gain.

Revisiting this thread, I'd like to touch up 1 month later. At or near level 30, solo EXP does get a sufficient boost. Why couldn't we have the same rate at all levels? After experiencing PL and the workings of a good party, EXP is comparable depending on your ability to keep the chain. Though it is just a personal preference, I still would much rather have some strategy and control in a party rather than a balls-to-the-wall approach.

Playing CON and THM in a raptor party last night, I found it very difficult to keep up with what was sometimes two groups of people fighting four to five different mobs. Also, as many of the rest of you may have found, mobs don't link at all when there is but one person 'pulling'. I don't understand if this is intentional - as we were meant to take on mobs at the earliest onset of the 10-level cap and reinstate old party mechanics and customs? If a group were to try on an enemy with 3 links, which is 8-10 levels above them, they'd almost surely be doomed. The way I've seen it played thus far is closer to a 5 level gap between enemy and player as we gallop across the camp killing everything in sight.

Playing Gladiator at level 30, I realized just how difficult it is to keep multiple mobs off the rest of the party. War Drum is helpful, but if spam is the way this game was intended to be played, then we need more group hate control.

Looks like SE want's to make FFXI-II. A shame really seeing how MMO's evolved since FFXI.
they havent every game since EQ1 its the same thing grind, quest, hit cap then raid/craft on the side. evolution i think not just graphics got better but thats just obvious.
everygame from wow too now has been nothing but a button masher and bum rush the bosses with all you attacks. good ol'days of ffxi you have to play smart or your fighting 1mob forever or your wipeing.

Amen to that....you summed it up pretty well. This game is just turning into more mindless button smashing, and every patch since day 1 has failed to address this one MAJOR flaw. Hell, the strategy in the Ifrit fight is to *NOT* button smash (aka: play your class incorrectly), so that you'll have ample time to get out of the way of his special moves. I can't tell you how annoying it is to have to watch efficiency get thrown completely out the window b/c I'm fighting a boss that is designed to undermine the mechanics of this CRAPPY-A#@ excuse of a battle system. I would love the Ifrit fight, if it weren't for the battle system.

I mean, FFS, you even have to spam BUFFS. This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen...can you imagine playing other FF titles and you had to waste a turn RECASTING the same buff you already gave yourself? and, no, not cuz the monster got rid of it....because it only last .00000003 sec lol <.<

YES, I'm exaggerating....so, kill me. 30 minute BUFFS -YES, PLEASE.
