Anyone know what it's trying to tell me?

So why does it always tell me "your aetherial attributes could not be restored" whenever I switch gear sets after putting in new materia?

My materia works fine I really don't understand what message it's trying to convey to me. Just finally wanted to get this off my chest haha

    You didn't save the gearset
it went from having zero aetherical attributes to whatever you added with materia.

Well if it uses the same gear wouldn't it count the materia whether I saved it again or not?

Not exactly. Your registered set basically said "I have X item with 0 materia" now it says "I have X item but the materia number is wrong" basically just whenever you add materia, click the refresh button on your set to save it.

So gear has zero stats unless its part of one of your registered sets even if it's currently equipped? Very strange way of doing things but at least now I know.

Nah, its like when you glamour/dye something. It's technically the same item but the look has changed.

the stats are there. just the gear set does not register it.

it is something like throwing a weapon into your inventory and trying to equip the gear set. if you have another weapon that can be used in the weapon slot. it will ask if you want to use that weapon instead to switch to the set.

just with the gear by materia and glamour. the item is there. just not registered in the save gear set as the current.

    Let's put this simply:

Let's assume I have two Steel Cuirass'. One is slotted with savage might (determination), the other is slotted with savage aim (critical hit) materia. Both are in my inventory.

Let's then assume I've registered my critical hit Cuirass to an equipment set. I then sell the cuirass with the critical hit later on.

I swap back to my Paladin/Gladiator after all of this and it automatically equips the determination Cuirass. However, because the materia equipped is different to the one I had registered, it tells me the aetherial attributes have changed. In other words, I'm not getting the same bonuses now as I was when the set was first registered.

It's just a message telling you things are a bit different now than they once were when the set was first registered. Usually this is a bonus, because you've probably melded the gear since you first equipped it and now it's better than before.

    Hope that straightens things out.

And as no one has said this yet, if you remember that you added materia to the gear recently, just hit the "Update Set" button to save the new settings and you won't get that message anymore.

If you make any changes to the gear set including dying it another colour or attaching materia, you need to hit the update button.
    This is all :3
