    Level Syncing?

Caught a post mentioning that if one does NOT use DF to do a dungeon (ha, my inclination is to call them 5 mans... but I know it's 4 here!), you do not get level synced... which joggled my curioisty about the issue of level syncing.

As in exactly how is it done. There seem to not be one primary stat (like INT) that changes with level, so it seems levels affect HP, MP, TP, but maybe not stats added by various gear... correct?

Then again, when level synced, I assume HP, MP, TP are adjusted as well as overall stats that are the "bonus" on gear... again do I have this right?

I caught this on a page for Tam Tara Hard:

    iLevel 70 (Sync: 110)

Not so sure exactly what this is telling me... logic says for a level 50 dungeon, it syncs ilvl to 70 if you are above it... right? Then what does the "Sync: 110" mean? I heard some big youtube ffxiv guy say in a dungeon guide that 54 was the intended ilvl for a hard dungeon. Do they vary from one lvl 50 dungeon to another?

The info for Tam Tara hard means the minimum ilevel required to enter is i70, and if you are above i110 your ilevel will be synced to i110.

For the rest, as I understand it, if you go into lower level dungeons your character level will be synced and all stats appropriately lowered, and some abilities locked out. Your gear's stats will also be synced to a level appropriate ilevel.

As for avoiding level syncing by not going through DF, I'm not quite sure what that means. If you go to the actual entrance of the dungeon it opens the DF window anyway. With the new expansion, though, we now have the ability to turn off level syncing if we go in with a preformed party. If you queue to get matched with randoms you'll always have to be level synced (if the dungeon requires it).

It's a bit imprecise to say you don't go through DF if you want to avoid level sync. What's really meant is that you don't use DF's queuing ability to automatically pair you up with other people. For all instanced duties, you still use the DF window to enter them, even if you're not using it to form your group. To avoid level sync, you select the "Undersized Party" option:

    http://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wi...inder_Settings

Duty Finder Settings are introduced in patch 3.0. Players can access settings from the gear wheel icon on the top right corner of the Duty Finder menu.

Undersized Party allows players to participate in Duties with below minimum party member requirements. For example, running Sastasha Seagrot with 2 players. In this setting, level sync, item level sync and role requirement are ignored. Only certain duties allow undersized parties.
    • Defeating enemies (non-boss) will grant no EXP or item drops. Spiritbond and Soul Resonance cannot be gained.
    • Players will still receive treasure chest rewards from defeating bosses, first time completion bonuses and EXP upon completion of the duty.

Just to nit pick, each individual piece of gear that is above ilvl 110 will be synched down to 110. So, even if your total ilvl is below the 110, say 105, and you have a few pieces of ilvl 120, those pieces of 120 will be synched down to 110.
