High Level Dungeon Gear Is Redundant

Yesterday, when gaining levels for the Monk and taking the Level 45 challenge, I noticed that not only do I get the Monk's Level 45 gear but I also get the Level 50/Item Level 90 gear too. This means that a lot of gear that can be obtained in the High Level series of dungeons is weaker than gear that you get by doing the Level 45 and 50 Job challenges.

Because of this, I would like to make a formal request to have all gear found in High Level dungeons which were introduced from Patch 2.1 to Patch 2.4 be replaced due to their redundancy, with more of crafting items like the Hardened Sap and the Lime Sulphur. Logically speaking, it just makes sense to do this because so much gear will never get used.

Not entirely. The i60 stuff that dropped from AK was decent to have when doing Ifrit HM and Garuda HM. Having some pieces mixed in with your DL set was also alright, so long as you had more than 3200HP.

They were also good to upgrade the gears on alts while you needed the tomes for the main.

I do NOT want more crafting item drops. One of the biggest complaints I heard when they started this was "OMG STOP GIVING ME MATS I DON'T WANT THEM I DON'T CRAFT".

Only because at the start the dungeons gave mats it was mats or gears. There was no complain anymore after the devs changed it to mats and gear

This isn't even true. The job challenge stuff is i50, body i55, and dungeon drops start at i55. The only way to get the job-specific i90 gear now is thru dungeons. They basically skipped making a dungeon-specific i90 set and rebranded the previous i90 tome gear as those dungeon drops.

Also desynth means your request should never be done.

Oh wow. OK then, just the desynth issue.

And the fact they made everything drop both gear + mats where before it was one or the other. Can't really expect any more than that.

Unless you did the level 45 before then, and are coming in now - then you're locked out of the iLevel 90 stuff and need other pathways to catch up.

That's a matter of perspective I suppose. If you don't have level 60s giving you the amount of gil 60s content rewards, those crafted items from Heavensword are absurdly priced. At least on my server they start at 200,000 gil and go up.

Its my Miqot'e that was hit by this, and she's my tank. Basically until I hit far enough into the main story, I'm running around with half my gear half the iLevel of the rest, and it means I have to seriously struggle to hold threat on any group content - and while I'm as a result avoiding tanking for now, the 2.1 through to start of Heavensword have a couple of mandatory story related group bosses to fight.

Not to mention all the dungeons at the end of 2.0 - were very difficult. But its a short slog so this is more of an annoyance than a major complaint. Well, it is more just pointing out that there is a missing gear tier now for some players.

When they added that stuff to the level 45 Job quests, they should have added some way for people past those quests to get it. Some of it looks nicer than the straight level 45 stuff, and it was removed from the vendor you used to buy it from - so my Miqot'e will never have the option to use that as a Glamour set. And this I suspect will be a complaint for some - though that particular set it not one I planned to glamour anyway.
