Why is Housing even desired?

Mr. Radacci I'm not assuming anything about you. I'm just theorizing as to why you're holding on to a resource you've repeatedly deemed stupid. And yes, small houses do give airship access to fcs. My own fc has a small house and we finished our airship not too long ago.

As for roleplayers, we rp in /say so other rpers can join in. LS's can only have 125 people in them and there are FAR more rpers on Balmung than one LS can possibly hold.

Erping is a different animal entirely and the...I suppose you can call us the hardcore rpers insist that erping be done either in party chat or in a personal room/house that belongs to one of the people involved.

Those that erp in public chats are more trolls than real rpers. Real rpers will never try to involve a non rper unless they express interest.

it's not that i think housing is stupid, i was just calling everything stupid, cause i had a tardarsauce moment...which you cant on this forum, cause ppl think you're serious (well i was to some degree)
I can see the appeal, since it was a bit of fun, to craft up your own house, for a few days anyway. I mostly play for raiding, and some people play for fishing, and some ppl like to furnish houses, so if you like that kind of stuff, i can see ppl going ermergerd, houuusse, need it! kind if like i go: ermergerd...gief me Ravana EX pt! and savage! raid all the things \o/

we'll see what i'll do...my friends are kinda ultra casual, so they don't play a lot, so if i give them a house...it will kind of be the same thing as me just keeping one, and not using it much.

well it would honestly be scary if more than 125 RPers met up in one place, anyway ^^

There will never be enough houses...ever. Temporarily there may be when a new subdivision comes out (for maybe two weeks). It's a nice looking system to be sure, but there are so many hardware limitations (server and lovely ps3) to prevent increasing the number of houses indefinitely. I'm kind of surprised they didn't come up with a different housing plan. There is sadly no endgame i see for supply to EVER meet demand. I mean there might have been before they allowed players to share the same lots as fc housing. I guess I can see why people weren't pleased with that design choice. Maybe we will see more with the cleanup of player's houses that quit the game.

Having a house that no one ever goes to but you can get old. I feel good for the people that actually have friends over their house and stuff. But once a friend has seen your house there is like no reason for them to ever go back really, unless you do something drastic to it... "Oh you got a moogle chandelier? Neat!" "Do I need to come see you ask? Nah, I seen one before. I can't figure out how to get to your subdivision anyway!"

I feel good for the people that actually have friends over their house and stuff. But once a friend has seen your house there is like no reason for them to ever go back really, unless you do something drastic to it... "Oh you got a moogle chandelier? Neat!" My friends come to my house all the time, and mostly uninvited. They use my dummy, chat, run around spamming event items, check if I made any changes, craft, use the MB, etc. Sometimes I log in and find a few of them AFK in my yard. I'm excited about house sharing so those who like to hang at my house can use the gardens and stables. Hopefully they will also be able to teleport there.

The addition of friend access to private housing sounds interesting and should make visiting friends homes more useful if they can use things like a mender and the teleport to features. I suppose we'll see how that goes soon enough. Personally I wish my alts could access my private housing features but I don't suspect that is in the mix given we'd most likely have to be able to friend ourselves.

The reason I have a house is to have a place in the game that is just mine. If I craft or just chill away from the crowds in the cities or santuaries. I could do the same thing inside my fc's house. But again sometimes you just wanna have that 'me' time.

Because I can build my own furniture and I want to be able to use them. Plus it looks fun to have a house I've organised how I like.

And then there's the housing only features you're (Currently) locked out of by being houseless, like gardens.
