Why is Housing even desired?

The "house" can look just like the plots we have, only instanced.

To ease server constraints, they'd HAVE to look EXACTLY ALIKE.

People under the old system get equivalent "free". ..connected to a central hub if you like having neighbors.

SE could've made the current system workable. But guess what? MONEY. Instances wouldn't have "hubs", the best you'd get is a system based on FC rooming. And who's to say who lives where? When everyone wants to live next to Twitch Streamer A, then what?

I'm not getting shoved in a box against my will for "free", I'd want all gil invested in the house refunded, since it wouldn't be the house I paid for.

There will never be enough houses...ever. Temporarily there may be when a new subdivision comes out (for maybe two weeks). It's a nice looking system to be sure, but there are so many hardware limitations (server and lovely ps3) to prevent increasing the number of houses indefinitely. I'm kind of surprised they didn't come up with a different housing plan. There is sadly no endgame i see for supply to EVER meet demand. I mean there might have been before they allowed players to share the same lots as fc housing. I guess I can see why people weren't pleased with that design choice. Maybe we will see more with the cleanup of player's houses that quit the game.

Having a house that no one ever goes to but you can get old. I feel good for the people that actually have friends over their house and stuff. But once a friend has seen your house there is like no reason for them to ever go back really, unless you do something drastic to it... "Oh you got a moogle chandelier? Neat!" "Do I need to come see you ask? Nah, I seen one before. I can't figure out how to get to your subdivision anyway!"

The addition of friend access to private housing sounds interesting and should make visiting friends homes more useful if they can use things like a mender and the teleport to features. I suppose we'll see how that goes soon enough. Personally I wish my alts could access my private housing features but I don't suspect that is in the mix given we'd most likely have to be able to friend ourselves.

They're 300k. Which, looked at from another angle, is 50% more than you've accumulated in your entire time in FFXIV.

Graphics are rendered on the client side, so the house can look like how it wants Since only the type and decorations have to be transfered

I always feel grateful to be the owner of one of the last large houses as my personal house in Cerberus whenever I read threads like these,

It is not a matter of waiting. The vast majority of players will never have a house in this system, no matter how hard they work or how long they wait. The system is broken.

You can count me as part of that "entitled crowd" you speak of, and I'm proud of it. Why?

Because I pay the same sub fee as everyone else, and I AM entitled to have equal access to all the same content as everyone else, including housing.

The player base should accept nothing less than a complete rebuild of the housing system from SE.

My friends come to my house all the time, and mostly uninvited. They use my dummy, chat, run around spamming event items, check if I made any changes, craft, use the MB, etc. Sometimes I log in and find a few of them AFK in my yard. I'm excited about house sharing so those who like to hang at my house can use the gardens and stables. Hopefully they will also be able to teleport there.
