I am of a mind that we need posable mannequins that can wear all sorts of armor and perform any battle or crafting action (example: like when frozen from Shiva) . Imagine all the fun layouts you could make and imagine the drive to run old content (albeit a weak reason) being to get glam and gear, not for your retainer, but for a house mannequin. Oh man lol

something like this? well it might not be fun, out of context.
but yah, it would be nice with mannequins - i think they even mentioned it long ago...but i guess it would use up to much server data, or such. so it's not likely

I didn't want a personal house at first. I had my FC room, which I still have, and I was content with that.

Then a FC member who joined long after the initial land grab began saying she wanted a beach house in Mist. One day I heard someone shouting for such a one for sale, so I grabbed her girlfriend, got her character logged in, and loaned her the 3.5 mil she needed to complete the transaction. (The person was selling to move to Balmung. So it goes.)

After that, I began to really want a house in The Goblet. That way our FC would have a housing presence in all three zones! (Our FC mansion is in Lavender Beds.) I even had a dream about it. Just a few weeks ago, some bizarre series of events led to a small lot opening up in Ward 6 of The Goblet with no one actively buying it. I dropped all my gil on that faster than you can say "GUESS ITS MINE NOW!"

I do zero lawn decoration in real life, despite my husband and I owning the house, so I'm really excited about doing themed lawns for the upcoming fall season.

TL;DR: I wanted a house because I wanted to play The Sims with it.

It does absolutely nothing for you. People even buy houses for the sake of it and NEVER get in it.

Just a waste of money and space. Same goes to this ridiculous "eternal bond" business. It does not contribute to anything that help u in this game.

Each to their own I guess.
News Flash: The whole point of a GAME is to have FUN.

And, yes, when playing games, I find it fun to have my own virtual pad to customize, similarly to how I like to have the coolest looking armor, and so forth and so on.

This whole game is a frivolity. From the customer's perspective, it serves no purpose in life other than as a source of enjoyment. (Kind of like housing and so forth mainly exists as a source of enjoyment.)

    And I freakin' love it.

Mr. Radacci I'm not assuming anything about you. I'm just theorizing as to why you're holding on to a resource you've repeatedly deemed stupid. And yes, small houses do give airship access to fcs. My own fc has a small house and we finished our airship not too long ago.

As for roleplayers, we rp in /say so other rpers can join in. LS's can only have 125 people in them and there are FAR more rpers on Balmung than one LS can possibly hold.

Erping is a different animal entirely and the...I suppose you can call us the hardcore rpers insist that erping be done either in party chat or in a personal room/house that belongs to one of the people involved.

Those that erp in public chats are more trolls than real rpers. Real rpers will never try to involve a non rper unless they express interest.

    Yeah...

Ans what's with these fools who want graphics?

We should all just be floating green squares on a black gridded background with numbers along the side so we can be more accurate about positioning.

What benefit does having an Au Ra give you? Everyone should be exactly the same because there's no notable benefit to diversity; we should ALL be Donald Trump avatars. That are of course - green squares.

Why do people insist on having names too? Just put the class of their toon above their head to help avoid confusion. We also need to remove all these armor sets and glamour. And have just one mount - a triangle because that way it can be exactly 1 polygon and really help reduce lag.

it's not that i think housing is stupid, i was just calling everything stupid, cause i had a tardarsauce moment...which you cant on this forum, cause ppl think you're serious (well i was to some degree)
I can see the appeal, since it was a bit of fun, to craft up your own house, for a few days anyway. I mostly play for raiding, and some people play for fishing, and some ppl like to furnish houses, so if you like that kind of stuff, i can see ppl going ermergerd, houuusse, need it! kind if like i go: ermergerd...gief me Ravana EX pt! and savage! raid all the things \o/

we'll see what i'll do...my friends are kinda ultra casual, so they don't play a lot, so if i give them a house...it will kind of be the same thing as me just keeping one, and not using it much.

well it would honestly be scary if more than 125 RPers met up in one place, anyway ^^
    but yah, i get it.

Look, I know you have a hard-on over the idea that other players actually care about looking at your house (they really don't), but the current system is unsustainable. There are far too many players and more join the game very day. Even if the game's population were static, the fact that there's no limit to how many Free Companies can be made per server still brings rise to the issue of there never being enough homes to go around. The number of homes per ward is too small (only 30 plots in each ward and subdivision) and each plot being a set size further exacerbates the problem. It's a mess that's only going to get worse.

We need instanced housing. The "house" doesn't have to be you zoning into a room, it can look just like the plots we have now (complete with an outdoor area), only it's instanced instead of being in a big neighborhood. The absolute best way to deal with it is give everyone a small house/plot (smaller than our current small houses) for free and you can pay gil to increase your acreage and modify your house. People who have already bought a plot under the old system would just get the equivalent sized upgrade for "free". It can still be connected to a central hub too if you like the idea of having neighbors.

^This. I don't give a damn about crafting a couch with garuda's feathers (well, only a single feather, in actuality). I want to mount her F-ing head on the wall.
