I feel like I'm underperforming as a dragoon.

This is a QQ thread, you've been warned.

My experiences with raiding lately have been mostly with Alexander Savage 1. I play a ilevel 192 dragoon and if our summoner is in the raid he's usually the highest dps while I'm 100ish behind.

Is this normal? What should be the normal numbers for a dragoon to put out in as1? I did read the dragoon guide on the forums and sorta know my rotations but I'm open to any tips/criticism you may have.

for any job and for something like drg with an rng-y rotation, the moment you say "sorta" know your rotation is the moment you don't make a Q.Q thread and go drill the rotation into your muscle memory

It also depends. If you're talking about Faust, I've not once out-DPS'd my group's higher DPS Summoner (we have 2 Summoners in our group) straight from the parse even when Foe's isn't running because they get so much fake DPS from any aoe spell of theirs hitting the Sturm Dolls.
And on the Oppressor, if they're double dotting, then I imagine that it would be fairly difficult to out-DPS them. I don't know for sure on that though as I don't pay attention to the numbers as much in Oppressor fights since there's more stuff to do and so long as we hit certain health markers, I know we're pretty doing well.

I also agree with Davester, if you're attempting Savage, you might want to get your rotation down to muscle memory on a dummy. An occasional mistake is one thing (I make them still, and I have the rotation down to muscle memory at this point) but if you're actually unsure about how well you have your rotation down, committing it to muscle memory is the way to go.

You need to know your rotation. Period. Figuring out ways to optimize your dps should be about uptime, not which buttons to press.

Alright, theres my add, theres my lazer. How can I get that add killed properly, while maintaining dot uptime on the boss. How's my blood of the dragon looking, I might have some downtime while positioning the add. Can i kill the add quick enough as to not wait for the resin bomb. Etc. Hitting a stationary boss....you really shouldn't make any mistakes.

It's kinda hard to beat SMN dps as melee in fights where they can multi-dot or aoe.

Ask whoever is checking your dps, to filter out all damage not on the main target. Then check again the results lol.

Savage? That's...probably not? I mean unless you've got a fair bit of 210 then mmmok. But 1100 seems fairly high without many things working in your favour.

It depends on which part of A1S you're talking about. For Faust only (not counting adds), a 190+ dragoon should be hitting at least 1100 (with no ninja/ast buffs).

For the oppressors, before the first jump, it's not hard to maintain around 1100 dps. The dead time during jumps will kill your dps numbers if you're tracking over the whole fight however. If your combat encounter end time is set to less than 30 seconds, your parse might only be reflecting the most recent phases, since the jump phase may cause your parse to consider each phase a new fight.

I presumed the oppressors. Because 1100 is woeful on Faust.

If you're doing 1100 before the first jump. You're looking at a sub 950 parse.
