how are we suppose to play?

We went on today for first time and this game seems unplayable to me. It seemed to be fine before this patch.. leveling slow does not bother me.. I fucking played FFXI for 6 years I know what a grind is more then any of you do. Its the fact I can't do the guild leves I get because the monsters that are the same level as me basically insta kill me... and I was told this was because if your 5 levels higher then your gear your gear is basically worthless so since I'm in level 1 stuff still it's giving me no benefits... which means the logical thing to do would be buy 15 stuff since its within the 5 level difference and gives the most lasting optimal benefits. but... No one sells low level stuff... NPC's barely sell anything and the stuff they do sell is insanely priced and basically eats all the gil we have just for 1 piece of equipment.... you can say go craft but that cost money too and I don't see why we should be forced to do something we don't want to do right away... why can't i just play a lancer or any combat class until like 30-40 then craft? Are you saying we have no choice but to grind to level 10 only to find out we can't even do the levees we are given for that level and have to spend all our money and the next day or 2 leveling crafting skills to get gear that we will out grow the next day anyway? Can you please just clarify if your gonna change things soon or are you gonna dick around for another 6 months and wait until you release another patch that fixes 300 things and breaks 600. I might as well go play Dead ass FFXI that's full of hypocritical trolls and has no low level playerbase forcing you to power level your way through the early levels of the game.

I mean, this probably isn't the answer you want but if you roll on Besaid I'd be more than willing to help you and your friend (assuming your friend still plays. I saw your thread over in the LNC section) out with gear in the beginning. I know how hard it is to play early on now... I sent my alt out to test it one day and... it didn't go over very well so I can only imagine what it's like now.

Seriously though. I like helping out new players. Mind you I'm still kind of adjusting to all the new crafting changes myself and I'd have to look up the recipes but yeah. It's not like you have to delete the character you've already had. You can just make a new one and try it out

However if you do plan on staying on Rabanastre, I'd suggest looking up recipes over in the Lodestone Recipe section. It's a little hard to tell what exactly you should get due to the stats not being listed and gear recently being revamped but you can kinda guess around at the moment. I've seen people do that and collect the materials for the piece they need, and then they shout in Uldah for a crafter to make it for them. Sometimes they charge but most of the time if it's low stuff they won't. If you have no intention of crafting, that's probably you're only option until you get into a linkshell that has people capable of crafting the gear you're looking for until you're at the point where you can buy it yourself.

I totally feel your pain here CrimsonReign.

I just did a few leves myself and they where hard as heck to do without dying. Even on one star.
After the ordeal I managed to finish the leves and got ran.. erm.. level 20 conjurer. (yay!) I then switched to Thaumaturge (lv15) and went back to the level 20 camp to fight ladybug thingies... And kept freaking dying. They where just 2 levels above me, which before patch where not a problem, but after patch my spells are only about 25% as effective as before. Damage spells went from 200 dmg, to around 50. And healing spells are the same. Sacrifice now take away as much HP as it heals when I cast it, effectively only healing me during the "regen" -effect.
I no longer use the TP-consuming abilities of THM and CON, since they are a joke now. They do next to nothing in dmg and give you about 1-2 MP. Just like they did when game was released.

All in all I'm seriously starting to think SE has lost it. FFXIV will never be anything than a sidenote in their portfolio and a downright embarrassment compared to other MMO's released these days.
Get your act together SE. Now.

Oh and I'm also on the Besaid server. I moved there from another server, because I heard it was a RP-server, and I was curious about what that meant for everyday social experiences. Not allot as far as I can tell. Oh well.

you want things your level for gear not higher. fight things only 1 level higher than you solo. try to get links. keep in mind that ALOT has changed, crafters and sellers have to wrap their head around a totally new economy. it will be like a few days before selling has stabilized.

Before there was absolutely 0 reason to make any gear at all from level 1-15. now on the other hand it does have some value, recipes have changed, and the resources arent that easy to figure out yet. Its basically like a half of a brand new game. you can take advantage of that if your slick enough to find the new best paths on your own.

D: Ahh don't hate me. I figured you would've just switched and hit me up in game if you wanted to go that route! Anyway, of course I'm still willing to help you if you're interested. If you've progressed further that's fine too. I just hope you don't quit because of not being able to find help =|

If you do still wanna hit me up in game, I run a linkshell. The site is:

We're really, really small... there's like 10 of us? Like 3 or 4 of them are relatively new and the rest of us have been playing a good bit. The one guy's Leatherworking is actually 50! His Armorer is pretty high too... like 44 or something. Another member has 45 Blacksmithing. Personally, I have 39 Weaver and 32 Goldsmith among other things. Now mind you we aren't Carpenters so I'm not sure how many polearms we can make for you, but we definitely have you covered on gear! Now I don't have any classes below 34 so I can't like grind with you or anything however some other members have lower classes so yeah.
