Is there some good guide out there I can read on how to gather the stuff needed for scrips?

Can anyone tell me where I can get these things called favors that are supposed to give you access to special gathering nodes? i really hope this doesn't involve HAVING to be online at a certain hour of the day just to access the gathering node.
You can buy them with Red Gatherer's Scrips. I believe it was at a ratio of 5:1 (Favors:Scrips). You just use them and spam normal nodes in the appropriate zone. Each normal node completely emptied while the favor buff is active has a small chance to spawn a special favour-specific node which grants one of a few items used by DoH classes. Note that the only way to get DoL (Gathering) gear is also Red Scrips, so you need to choose between gearing yourself or buying favors and collecting those rare items.
Unfortunately for your hopes, the only way to get the materials needed to turn in for Scrips (Red or Blue) is to be online for those nodes that only spawn at specific times (unspoiled nodes). If you don't want to do that, you're locked out of dealing with favors, too.
Not that I know of. There's tidbits of information everywhere, but I've not found a consolidated guide for it.
Most of it really isn't that complicated, though. Just find out which items are turned in for which scrips, look up the time of Eorzean day/night these nodes spawn, and collect them via the Collector's Gloves ability. The hard part (until you learn how it works) is raising the rarity of these items high enough to turn them in. That's best figured out with some experimentation, but I can at least give some general advice:
- Don't use Toil to reveal unspoiled node items, you'll need your GP to increase rarity. Look up which slot the item you need appears in and just mine it once - that will reveal it.
- 600 GP is preferable at level 60 for collectibles. Seriously, it makes your life much, much easier. You'll struggle without it.
- Discerning Eye, Single Mind, Impulsive Appraisal, and Methodical Appraisal are your best friends. Most of the solid rarity rotations for most items involve those 4.
That's a shame. I think that is very poor design to require players to be online at a very specific time just to use these gathering nodes and then gate entire content behind it.
I think I will just not bother with the whole thing. It really is disheartening and makes me not want to even play the game at this point.![]()

The info is quite wordy there, but it'll give you a more in-depth look at how collectables work. It's seriously not a complicated system. The 600GP minimum is definitely something you want to aim for. Once you get your hands dirty and test it out yourself a few times, it becomes no more complex than using any of your other skills.
They're timed, but not so much IRL as it is in-game time (ET Eorzean Time). Most unspoiled nodes spawn at each AM/PM of their time for Heavensward areas. For example, the unspoiled node for Adamantite Ores will spawn at 11a.m. AND 11p.m. ET. This means every 30min IRL, the node will spawn. I really wouldn't consider this poor design, given that they want it to have some minor degree of rarity (similar to how its been since 2.0 launched), and not just something you can freely bot for 24hrs a day non-stop.That's a shame. You get scrips via blood, sweat, tears and your firstborn child. SE has made gathering and crafting super retardstix with the hefty time sink involved with scrips and their associated items. @_@
Edit: Not sure if the links already posted contain the gathering clock or not, but if they don't and you don't have it: http://ffxivclock.com

Thank you so much for clarifying that information. When I read about certain nodes being up at like 11 am/11 pm for example I figured it meant REAL time. Every 30 minutes is much much more manageable. This I can live with. Thanks. They're timed, but not so much IRL as it is in-game time (ET Eorzean Time). Where does it actually say the current time in Eorzea?
Clicking the on-screen clock (top right of the screen unless you've moved it elsewhere) will toggle it between showing Eorzean Time (ET), Server Time (ST), and Local Time (LT). Since server time isn't really useful for anything, and your watch can tell you what time it is locally, I'd recommend keeping the on-screen clock set to showing Eorzean Time.
