true I have no intention of crafting until late late game if I am forced to craft then whats the point of calling this an mmo? I should be able to do w.e I want but apparently it doesn't seem so.They don't matter if you're only up to L20. What are you going to do? Repair your L40+ gear? Not going to happen. Craft yourself some L30+ gear? Again, doesn't work. I guess you can make gil by gathering but I never bothered with it and I have no gil problems.
Also, crafting is so boring telling someone they need R20 in crafts is probably the best way to make them immediately uninstall the game.

You can. No one said you had to do anything, run into the game and do whatever your little heart desires.

Let's see what you can do with level 1-20 crafting:They don't matter if you're only up to L20. What are you going to do? Repair your L40+ gear? Not going to happen. Craft yourself some L30+ gear? Repair low level gear
Make low level gear
Gain profit through creation of low level gear
Cross-class crafting skills
The ability to create on-demand materials
Repairs in the field
etc.
Arguing that crafting is useless is completely short-sighted & ignorant.
Telling me I said he "needed" to have all classes leveled shows a terrible problem with reading comprehension, please read on:
I bolded the important part for you less educated folk.At this point you will have a good base for your character build, you will have gil accumulated from crafting/gathering (sell stuff to NPCs, in wards, etc. If you don't like crafting, sell your shards/crystals.) and you will have a good amount of base experience.
None of that matters one bit once your DoW gets past L30.
I was only arguing against getting multiple crafts to a low to mid level. Crafts at 50 are extremely useful but getting there requires you to either bot or go insane of boredom because you're doing a robot's work.

See, and the reasoning I have behind that is the abilities you can gain from crafts at level 10, they can be useful for the one high level craft you decide to do. I do agree though, it sucks to level crafting period. But taking them all to 10 doesn't take very long, just a few local leves here and there when running around town.
The best bet I've found is the get yourself a good easy recipe, lotsa mats, and spam the hell out of Standard Synth while watching TV. Easier if you have a gamepad.
But you're definitely not wrong, crafting is borrrrinnngggg.
Crafting's not as boring as it used to be with the materia/simplified recipe list. If you're spamming the same skills over and over, sure, it can be hella boring. Grinding anything is boring.
If you supplement your crafting with your other jobs however, and craft seriously with the intent of either equipping yourself, a friend, or selling on the markets, it can be fun and rewarding. There's nothing quite like turning the day's spoils into max profits.
Yes but you can't actually level up that way. You need thousands of synths to get anywhere and it's not going to happen by only meeting your own, or heck, the whole server's demand. You have to spam a cheap recipe and vendor the stuff.Crafting's not as boring as it used to be with the materia/simplified recipe list. LVL PUG to 6 for Second wind (nice heal).
LVL THM to 16 for Sacrifice (light heal and a regen effect), Resurrect (raise, revive, w/e you want to call it), Stygian spikes (recover MP when you get hit).
LVL CNJ to 4 just for Cure.
Then you can level LNC a bit more easier.
Idk if you posted this because your friand and you are both lvling lnc or just you. If both are leveling the same class try to convince your friend to lvl cnj or con, w/e is called now.

Honestly i'd say you just got unlucky with timing. At the moment the crafters are busy making all the new high level gear because the profits are astronomical. This will change as more people get hold of it. Also hitting you is increased competition for low lvl gear as a lnc because more people are taking it up since the job got so much stronger.
Availability will improve. Until then either join a linkshell and ask the crafters in there or walk up to the group of crafters that generally hang around the repair guy in uldah and ask them to make you gear.
