1. Its one of the easiest MMO's, where you dont need Skill at all. ( Yes, i played it and it was easy to reach the Top )
2. There is no "hard" content at all, so everyone feels like they are good Gamers.
3. Its no Problem for Players to buy Gold with Real-Money, since China monopolized the Game. ( Yes, there are Players which play's Game for Reasons like that ).
4. They throw out tons of Commercials since they released, so everyone know it. ( A lot of People dont even know about FF-MMO's )
5. You can play it on crap-PC's, which is the majority of WoW-Gamers. ( They wouldnt even be able to play FFXI or FFXIV ).
6. 20% of those 11.000.000 Players are probably RMT's.
Etc etc.
Saying WoW is a good Game, is like saying it has good Graphics. Its just not true.
If wow is so easy and requires no skill (like any MMO requires skill), then explain why only a fraction of the community ever finish the big boss of the expansion on hard mode.
Skill chains and magic bursts? How very 2005 of you. By the time most people hit the 40s/50s the game turned into a big number epeen spam fest. Don't act like skill chains and magic bursts were ever anything more than a novelty.FFXI:
Getting signet, picking a location, designing an appropiate build for the party based on it, getting to the camp, talking to set upa skill chain strategy based on what you're fighting, pulling safely, hate managing (sneak attack and such), skill chanining, magic bursting. Fights last minutes.
vs
FFXIV:
Gather 8 misc guys for EXP bonus, teleport basically anywhere and start running to bash crap around that are pretty much outside. Fights last 3 seconds at most.
I remember sometime around 2009 I was in an exp party leveling something for the heck of it and someone MB'd on accident and they said "wtf is a magic burst?"
Reading and research are hardcore skills now?also there was always chances of things to go wrong in ffxi, wipe on imps and what have you ...but most people new what they were doing in that game to make it feel like a breeze. most fights were dynamic, and at the very least for mages took some skills in dispelling and removing debuffs.

Accept in XI you payed to literally not play. What value does standing in place for 12 minutes because you just missed the airship add?without that time then why play or pay for a mmo? time is what a mmo was and should always be about, you pay by month to enjoy it, if it shortens in time spent ...it only satisfies you as a person without that much time, but in general you understand then that your paying for your items. no matter how hard the content can be, if it takes you a week, you payed that month for that piece of gear. it's a simple way for a mmo company to sell cash shop without it really being there.
either way a journey/grind to endgame should be there, cause "END"game happens at the end, the main part is prior to it as long as its done right and in fun manner. even if it to be a short run to endgame, then SE is doing it all wrong with grinding anyway, then it should be threw story, cutsceens and voice overs, and cool solo/party play missions, not power level if you have people to even do it for you.
And as to the grind, people keep forgetting that you need to level multiple classes to be effective at end game. The "journey" isn't in leveling just one class and being done with it. It's a matter of leveling multiple classes potentially all the way to cap, which eventually will be well beyond 50.
Imagine if in XI you had to level three or more classes to 75 just to participate in Dynamis. It'd have harbored on insanity with how slow exp was back in the day.
On a good day the parties just seemed to fall in place. Other days, people would fake dc from your group once they realized you were a Drg or Thf or Blm or Pup.What I stated was work. Work is a challenge. It took my like 5 minutes to organize a party, I have no idea wtf were you playing.
I actually want to PLAY the game I'm paying for you know. As opposed to jump straight into a field with random crap that goes down in 2 seconds against anything I spam...
But no matter how long anything took, that didn't make it a challenge. Remembering to run up to the guard and requesting them to bestow you with signet isn't a challenge.
Standing in one spot while the designated puller bring enemies back to you one at a time is not a challenge.
Even being said puller isn't a challenge.
The most skill XI ever took was an attention span. Outside of that you watched the game till it was time to press an appropriate macro. I'm sorry, but XI was a grind for the sake of being a grind. It's only silver lining is that it's story lines were so well written.
No, it's like saying that McDonalds tastes good because so many people eat there. Which to billions of people, it apparently does taste good. Just ask any of those people who go on pilgrimages for those nasty ass McRibs.WoW is the lowest common denominator. Its an awful game. Saying WoW is good because it sells its like saying that eating in mc donalds is nutritional because of how many people go there.
Most people around here dislike WoW for their own reasons, but 11 million people agree that WoW is worth the monthly fee.
I personally don't get why the world is so in love with Skyrim. But I'm not going to sit here and try and make it out to not be what those millions of people see in it.
Again, the only "skill" XI required was an attention span. Oh, and copious amounts of caffeine.1. Its one of the easiest MMO's, where you dont need Skill at all. ( Yes, i played it and it was easy to reach the Top )
Spamming that voke macro when the HNM spawned ... SO HARD!2. There is no "hard" content at all, so everyone feels like they are good Gamers.
Because every time SE burned legitimate players to try and cut out RMT, it worked so well. Yes, depriving players of a decent means of acquiring gil really made them less likely to buy gil from Xkhdjkasld who kept up a nice /tell rotation of the entire server reminding everyone of how cheap it was.3. Its no Problem for Players to buy Gold with Real-Money, since China monopolized the Game. ( Yes, there are Players which play's Game for Reasons like that ).
That way it's right in the player's face that they could make twice as much gil for half a month's sub fee as they'd be able to make in a single month on their own.
Yeah, the "we're not going to advertise" tactic is really working in SE's favor.4. They throw out tons of Commercials since they released, so everyone know it. ( A lot of People dont even know about FF-MMO's )
Yeah, shame on Blizzard for making their game accessible to the masses. SE's the real smart cookie in that category. Release XIV on an unoptimized engine so that it'll fry computers that meet even the recommended specs...5. You can play it on crap-PC's, which is the majority of WoW-Gamers. ( They wouldnt even be able to play FFXI or FFXIV ).

Yeah, it really takes a superior machine to run XI compared to WoW.
Ah, about 2,000,000. Four times the size of XI's playerbase at its peak.6. 20% of those 11.000.000 Players are probably RMT's.

I have played plenty. It doesn't matter if WoW came up with these or not really, I am saying that having options for any type of player is what made WoW so successful. Its what FFXIV is headed toward weather you like it or not, so now is your chance to leave. MMOs are evolving, they are no longer focused on enormous grinds. Listen to what Yoshi-P has to say and you will realize your dream of FFXI-2 isn't happening. You are in denial.
On the topic of PLing, it is optional. You chose to do it or not to do it. If people wish to skip content, that is their business, not yours. You aren't paying their monthly fee so stop dictating how others play their game. If anyone says they have no option but to PL on their server, they are basically saying that the majority prefer PLing and they are in the minority.
Pull your head out of your butt please.
And really, lol again at SIGNET it was SO HARD!!
Also, you said experience party formation was a job and a job is challenging. I have a job, outside of this game (note: game). I want to play a game, not a second job, thanks.
