Wow, pretty sad that this is still on the front page. Can we just rename this "The Haters' Thread"? Bad enough that we had an emergency patch to get this "fixed" because some level 30's were butthurt that they actually had a means to escape the boring and tedious grind (or at least speed it up), and people are still pissing and moaning about it? If you want to hold onto that long, boring and tedious feeling, just grind a craft instead.

This game is not WoW; if you want WoW, go play WoW. If you get butthurt when people mention Final Fantasy XI, then shut up about WoW.

good. this is the best news i have heard yet. you would know exactly what it is since you are the vocal leader of that group. the best news this board could hear is that you are leaving.

nobody is saying that power leveling needs to be removed. what part of that can you not understand?

people are saying that the sp for power leveling should be in line with the sp for grind parties. if they both got massive sp then so be it, but only one gets massive sp and the other gets less than 20%. if both groups are 8 people fighting mobs there's no reason one group of r40 characters get 5x the amount of sp that another group of r40's get. they need to balance it to where both groups get comparable sp.

we could also name it the crybaby thread because people feel threatened because they are afraid their gravy train of sp may be put in line with the groups that are actually fighting mobs so they cry about it.

Um, I was only commenting on how it's a wonder that this thread is still going, despite the fact that there was already an emergency maintenance to get it adjusted. Glad you feel so proud that you had the patience to grind through all of your jobs; apparently that's fun to you. For me, fun was beating the Darkhold with friends, or killing Ifrit, both of which required levels 45+. And fyi, I did in fact grind through most of classes (with the exception of pug and gla because they were not enjoyable classes to me), so no, I don't feel threatened that people like you are getting an e-peen by doing the same repeated motions for months on end to reach the same goal. Maybe you should stop being threatened by people who would like to speed up the grind and enjoy some endgame content.

Not everything should be about the end. There's this big thing called the middle.

MMO's are kind of like a hamburger. The end and the beginning are the little parts. The big part is the middle with all the condiments and the most part, which is where this game keeps you occupied for so long. Well what XIV is basically doing is getting rid of the middle part of that hamburger. So all we have now is the bread. The ends that can only keep you occupied for so long until you just leave it as it is, and come back for the next patch.

Well, therein lies the problem; aside from the lvl 25 dungeon and Shposhae, there currently is nothing in the middle, at least nothing substantial enough to want to keep people there. By far the most interesting things occur at the current "endgame" (Ifrit, Darkhold, etc.). If they did introduce more midlevel content (and new classes to make the most of it), I'd be all for it. In fact, most of my favorite stuff in XI was midlevel. However, here in XIV the most fun I've found was at its "endgame", and for friends who don't have the proper classes leveled to gain the necessary abilities, they have the OPTION of being powerleveled so that they can take part in the current "endgame" events.

No it's not really the option no more. If you want to do endgame content, you have to have that level or you get kicked out the party. I'm sorry but people are naturally going to take the shortcut.

And there are also mine quests, regular quests, roaming NM's, faction NM's... I mean there is a ton of stuff to do right now. But people focus on the BIG things that happen and think that is the only content. And instanced battle, that's it.

So there is no option of grinding out the levels or gaining xp through leves anymore? It all has to be done with powerleveling? Interesting.

Yes, and this has been discussed in several other threads, with the major argument being there is not enough content in this game (and definitely not enough midgame content to want to keep you there). Midgame roaming nm's have a ridiculously small repop time and an inflated drop rate. Quests generally involve running around talking to few (or several) npc's or killing a set number of mobs. Woo-hoo.

My point is, I don't see why people are still complaining about powerleveling being broken if alternate means to level up still exist.
