Power-leveling is absolutely BROKEN

Yeah, if only it actually worked that way. Now it's more like you rub my back, I rub yours. 8 people taking turns PL'ing is not much of a "volunteering" as it is abusing the system for your own advantage, regardless of your role as a newb or a long-timer.

Level Sync would still be better, but at least getting rid of this brainfart would be a step forward (after 10 steps back).

Yes i agree but it seem yoshi-p have made his mind and think that powerlevel is ok. Even in WoW powerlevel is not that great and people still go out and do dungeon. So i don't see why yoshi-p is doing it what i'm guessing is to get new players to join the game.

I hope Yoshi-p see that there other way to help out a friend without helping them level the easy way.
