My only concern with the power leveling is that the low level crafting market is destroyed atm. For some classes, like Carpenter, this takes our already limited supply of craftable items and limits it farther.
Other than that I can care less if people level up fast. It's not like the combat is hard to learn.
Gear does make a difference. However, it's use is minimal when you have a plvl.
Apparently it's fun not earning anything anymore. Getting to the top by taking every short cut possible is the best way to go.
Well I can't stop anyone from doing this. At least at the end of the day I can take pride in knowing I can play my job properly as well as knowing that I actually earned my level ups.
Might as well add that auto-level option that someone suggested. This community is so shot.

If the game provides you those shortcuts, yes, it is the way to go.
But the fact is, the game shouldn't do that. It's not a crime to play the game by it's own rules, but those rules should make sense as well.

I completely agree i'm not saying make it so hard it takes us months and months just to hit 50 but the plvling system although implemented by yoshi-p im sure he didnt intend for everything thats happening because people exploit anything to the extreme.
A game should never allow you to powerlevel at this point in time of the game. What going to happen is everyone going to be 50 when ps3 hit everyone be powerlevel and they hit max level everyone would be max level. They would get bored out of there mind and SE would have to work 10x at hard to even release stuff so people wont be bored.
Yoshi-p need to understand that there other way you could help your friend reach yourlevel without doing the work for him.

Since people don't understand how game balance works here you go:
reasons why Abrupt leveling kills MMOs:
1: Economy: This hugely affects the economy because PLing your classes will not require you to gear your self until late game. So what happens to all the gear LV1-40 in the markets? It sits right there. Crafters and people who farm mats for gils will definitely feel the backlash from this. If you have any sense of analytical and observation skills you can look into the future of what downward spiral the economy will go into if the PL scenario worsens.
2: Server Character Level Distribution: New players will later find it hard to make and find group later down the line when people start to have multiple 50s and start the ever popular end game grind for gear. The content created by the devs for LV1-40 will be completely destroyed like it was in FFXI in Abyssea (might not be correct spelling) and will turn this game into another type of grindfest... the endgame grindfest.
3. Promotion of the lack of In-Game knowledge: This sounds fun doesn't it?! Lets not have no clue what we are doing, let alone what types of abilities are viable in class builds and end-game setups. Why can't these things be taught through player experiences and strife? That is the true way to stimulate sense of accomplishment!
4. Veteran Buzz-Kill = Loss players: Lets observe a real-life scenario. Let's say you worked intensely hard at a job and finally earned a promotion after 12 years of dedicated service. Then next week a new hire is suddenly jolted to your rank after 3 months. We saw this in FFXI and no one can't argue that the server population didn't suffer from it. Come on SE! don't you learn your lesson!? How would the current vets feel about this nonsense? Think before you post, please...
I agree with you 100% but there some people on here who believe grinding your class 1-50 you don't learn anything from it and you learn from endgame. Which i think it's not true in FFXI you learn about team work where the mage stand how to tank how to SATA how to move from GOB AOE. All of this teach you later how to do Endgame i don't understand why people think otherwise.Since people don't understand how game balance works here you go:

I hope what you said would at least tell the other what could happen and what going to happen if this goes on. There other ways you could help your friend level. EXP BAND,link account that would help the few who have a friend who join later into the game. They still have to level up there job and learn how to play but it cut down by a few days of grind.
You can't have powerlevel when the game just came out maybe 8 year down the road like ffxi where the game is dieing but sitll there.
