Alright, forewarning this might sound a little repetitive since I did not read the entire thread, but at least a few pages to get the general effect of where people were going with the topic. I completely support the "powerleveling" idea, and here is why:
I don't see it as "powerleveling" persay, more like I can have fun with my low level friends that just joined the game, help them out and actually get a minor amount of exp for myself in the process. I like the fact that they get a large benefit, and can play with me sooner than having to wait 15 years for them to level on their own.
Yes, the fact that levequests are stackable now helps with the fact that all of my friends have jobs and can only play on the weekends, but there is only so many quests that they can do and only so much exp that they can gain without my help. It would still be a very long time before we could play together and that is just not enjoyable.
While getting exp very quickly can be seen as "cheating" I really don't think so. It's repetitive and boring for the person PLing; it makes them work for the levels of their friends. Nobody would do this for no benefit whatsoever, so I really don't think it's going to be exploited, unless people will pay massive amounts of gil to be PLed and I really don't think there's anything wrong with that either considering it's just a basic IN GAME transaction (but let's not derail the topic here).
To sum:
- Getting PLed will not happen all the time, it's rigorous, tedious, and mind numbing for the person giving.
- It helps get your friends to higher level so that you can play and enjoy this game with them.
- It will most likely not be exploited due to facet number one, and if it is botted, SE will deal with that idea.
- It benefits the PL as well as those being PLed by giving minor amounts of exp (I gained 2 levels on my level 33 THM PLing my friends)
- It helps mentor new people in the game with a veteran who might share some knowledge with them while PLing (ie. this aggros, that doesn't, suggestions for party places when the PL session is over etc.) **this depends on the person, but I have found most people to be helpful**
Therefore, I don't see the problem with PLing. Thank you for reading, and I'm sorry once again if this was at all repetitive.
