Iv been through the grind 100 million times and im sure most of us have, its no different in any game. Actually it is different in XIV, because you are not leveling just one class, you are leveling multiple classes and with crafting classes added in there is an INSANE amount to level. Dont forget that new classes are coming, in the past you lvl'd one class to cap and made a new character (for most games). Now in order to have a completely capped character you have to level everything, as i intend to eventually do this (god bless me if i survive this grind) it will take some serious time to complete. You want your endless grind to take some time? Level everything up.
You won't ever have a capped character anyway. Maybe you could for a few months. Gear gets outdated. It's the same thing. Gear is replaced, then you have to grind for a new set, then a new set, new materia, more grind. Just because you don't like the journey, doesn't mean everyone is the same. Grinding is what MMOs are about.

Besides, you don't HAVE to level everything. That's why you play with other people. They can supplement your crafts or your jobs. If you need to be able to do everything yourself, that is a choice you have.
