Already is being done, seeing people shout in Ul'dah offering their..."expertise" at 150-300k an hour.
And the tragic thing is, people are biting. Congratulations, Yoshi, you have made a system where high levels can prey on lower levels. I highly advise implementing open world PvP in the next patch, we could use low level ganking to complete this downward spiral, perhaps a /teabag emote while you are at it.

Yoshi said FFXIV is "around 50% to actually being a real FF game" i see this as a way of bringing people back to the game, which is better for everyone in the long run, because if FFXIV in 6-9 months doesn't see an influx in people logging in then Yoshi/SquareEnix's work will be for nothing and we will see this project scraped.
I know it frustrating to see PLing on such a "giving" scale but its bringing people back on top of the other changes. I know everyone here has seen an influx in players logging in and playing. I know for a fact its bringing people back because i'm one of them. And this really won't matter in a year or so time when they increase level caps and make the required exp to level a billion or something stupid.
So give it time and try to relax, and maybe get one of your friends to help you level one of the other classes you like.

Wow i am amazed at how many people are actually up for this and defending it.
First of all this is not WoW ( sorry for comparison but this is what bread the "new lazy mmorpg" mentality ) getting to max level should not and is not the only way to get content/etc on a mmorpg. Playing through levels and experiencing several things/fights/deaths/win/loss are all experience part of a rpg. Getting to max level to "start" playing a game is not the intend and should never be that way. One of the greatest things about ff11 was that there was so much to do and a lot of excitement and achievement for getting new things every couple of levels just like this game with missions and new skills/etc. Why are people wanting to get max level if there is not much at max level anyways?
I do not condole or agree with people who want things given to them with no effort in their part, why are they playing online rpg if they just want a single player experience? its like playing a console rpg or any game with cheat codes, sure its fun for a little while but the fun is short lived.
The mechanics int he game is clearly broken its nothing that can be debated, a level 1 person gettign cap xp from level 50+ enemy should not be allowed and on top of the new "AoE' friendly system it just breaks the game.
personal examples:
linkshell mates/friends and people on server getting repeated 2-3 class 1-40 in a single day @.@. We tested it out when patch was released and its no b.s matter its a real issue.
everyone that just ignore it doesn't mean its there and effect the game, if people can just jump to level 40+ in less than a few hours it kills crafters because armor in low level worthless due to people "leeching" their way to max level. It also kills the "achievement" of getting max level cap. This is like having a pro Olympic champion participating at a little league game.
To people that want free levels, not sure if its a"new generation mentality" but mmorpg are about having fun through all levels, exploring the game thorough all levels are part of the game, if you don't enjoy it why play online rpg? This is seriously sickening when people are too lazy to play a video game which is made for entertainment. What fun would lets say a baseball game be when one team can just sit on their ass and win?
P.S- yes this is a terrible part of the game now and just because people ignore it doesn't mean the mass will, sooner or later people won't bother with leves when they can just sit on their lazy ass and get 40 levels. Soon everyone will be level50 everything and there will be nothing left to do in the game. I hope SE fixes this soon.

yes it has happened a lot and i have witness it happen from various people in our server, one guy gets 7-12 enemy........AoE.......boom everyone gets 85% of a level this is ridiculous
@Alkaiser completely and totally agree with every single thing you wrote. Makes me feel good to see people still believing in what we have and not praising what were getting now.

well thats what you do in a party.. It's all about easy exp.

There seems to be a handful of people here that refuse to see the truth of the damage this could do to the game. It's like ignorance, the folly of man.
It's not about jealousy from veterans from launch.
It's not about pride, or gloating from the top of the mountain.
It's not about greed, it's not like anyone wants to have a "special class" by being 50. (That notion already doesn't exist.)
It's not about the lack of content, that is being fixed every patch.
It. Simply. Breaks. The. Game.
I don't know how this couldn't be any more clear, any more true, any more resoundingly correct.
Maybe if it concerned DoH but it doesn't so you're wrong. How do you break a broken game anyways? There seems to be a handful of people here that refuse to see the truth of the damage this could do to the game. It's like ignorance, the folly of man.

You're so wrong you'll probably never be right on anything for the rest of your life.

Fail. The game isn't broken by something that is optional. It's not even like walking into a bugged area where you can't move. The only thing it breaks is your... immersion? LOL @ an optional activity having anything to do with the ability to play the game. There seems to be a handful of people here that refuse to see the truth of the damage this could do to the game. EDITED FOR ADDITIONAL FAIL:
Have you played XI? Have you ever heard of Abyssea?2 things:
That's a low %. I think if you asked most people, their percentages would be higher.
Second, powerleveling was about .2% as useful in XI as powerleveling is now in XIV. You literally can't compare the two. The extent of PLing in XI was basically a healer outside the part tossing heals on the tank, not getting a max level character to just slaughter everything for you.
I love how so many people think that just because something is optional, it has no effect on the people who don't choose that option. What world do you guys live in?
Here's an example: If there was an optional NPC in the game that gave you every piece of gear that is currently made by crafters, you think that wouldn't hurt crafters?
I played XI for 7 years. You still can't even come close to comparing what we have in XIV now, to anything in XI.Have you played XI? Have you ever heard of Abyssea?
