    Soundtrack finds?

After getting my Before the Fall soundtrack today, I sat and went through the songs of course, getting excited over the official track names for songs we'd not had them for before this. Of interesting note to me, the track name for the boss fights against Diabolos, Avere, and Ferdiad (I think I'm missing a couple, but those were the notable ones I remember) seems to be a 1.0 track called "Wrath of the Eikons," or "Angry Gods" in Japanese. I didn't play too far into 1.0 to hear it, so if anyone who played in that era remembers where it might have played, please do pop in and say so!

For the sake of discussion though, is it possible that, barring Avere since, while voidsent wasn't really on the tier of Ferdiad and Diabolos, that the other two it plays for in battle are voidsent gods? If that's the case, does that mean that the Mhachi were capable of bringing actual gods into Eorzea, and if that was the case, what else could they have possibly brought into being in their prime?

(While it's kind of relevant in the vein of the Mhachi, the official track name for the Lost City dungeon is "The Scars of Battle", while in Japanese my translation was "The Demonic War's Scars - Corrupted Ancient Ruins of Amdapor City." My Japanese is rusty, but if anyone wants to take a crack at the translation themselves, I can post the Japanese name for the tracks as well.)

For more discussion: do you think the soundtracks and actual track names have any lorebombs possibly in them?

"Wrath of the Eikons" played when you met Ifrit in 1.0. The cutscene was more or less the same one they used in 2.0 where the Amal'jaa summon him and all.

Interestingly, in 3.0 it plays when Ravana appears before Ysayle and the Warrior of Light.

My first assumption is that the name and use don't mesh 100% anymore; it's an old track from an old version that might simply be recycled for new life.

The Japanese name for the War of the Magi, even in FFVI, was 魔大戦, which will often translate literally as "Demon War" because 魔 can mean both [demon / evil spirit / evil influence] or [magic powers]. Figuring out which is intended is sometimes a source of frustration for me, lol.

Don't forget to check the EXTRAS section, too! There's video of all the From Astral to Umbral performances, both piano and The Primals live at Fan Festival Tokyo.

Another pertinent example of this is the old Coerthas battle and guildleve themes. The old battle theme became an instanced miniboss theme (later used for the fight against Fenrir), while the old jazzy guildleve theme is now used for the aesthetician and other comedic moments, even though the shared melody between the field/leve/battle tracks is still quite noticeable. There's no real deeper meaning behind which tracks were decided on to fit the mood best, though I suppose "Jandelaine is from Coerthas, duh" at least explains the aesthetician theme...

Here's hoping we'll get to hear the old Mor Dhona field theme again some day, along with the full version of "Phantoms on the Lake."

What I expected, but I did think it interesting to recycle that track for those specific battles. Ah well, you win some you lose some, I guess!
