Patch suggestion

that's where I've been sitting for 12 hrs on your stupid updater. And based on what I've been reading from the Technical Support forums, I'm not the only one having this problem. So here is a suggestion to fix the problem: give an alternate link to either download a torrent, or download the patch straight from your servers. Honestly, this is freaking ridiculous that multiple people are stuck trying to get the damn patch downloaded. Instead of letting other people find alternate solutions, get off your asses and provide a solution.

tried that as well, doesn't torrent all the way, gets to about ~90% then just stops downloading. Upload still goes, even with the updater, but no download. Which is why I'd much rather just download straight from a server, I hate this peer to peer bs. I've never had this kinda problem downloading an ffxi patch

I had to torrent the latest patch myself and I didn't have any issues.

I don't think I'm the only person that's had an issue with the torrent as well. Based on the tech support forums people are having to get direct downloads of the patch from megaupload.com. Having a direct download from SE would be a lot easier. That way people know they're getting it from a reliable source. There's also other games that already have this in place; a direct download link and then a torrent or p2p download link for whatever option you prefer. I don't see why SE can't do something similar, it'd sure help a lot of people out.

Honestly I have to agree, I even mostly agree with your aggressive tone lol..
We are in a day and age where sitting at 0 kb/sec on download speeds should not even happen.
I do not pay $65.00 a month for 0 kb/sec..
There are plenty of ways to fix this issue and it's a big issue.
I had to redownload the game with a new pc and it took me like 14 total hours, wtf?! are u kidding me?...
Am I back in 1980 on a dialup modem going weeeeeoooooeeeeeooeoo??

See for me, I play a LOT of mmo's, including this one and ffxi. And a fair amount of them, have different ways to patch each game. For instance, Eve online has an updater, similar to how ffxi works. You just download the patch from the server and it installs, but they also have an alternative link that you can click to download a torrent. That way you can choose between P2P or just a direct connect to the server. Something like that honestly wouldn't be hard to implement, just reverse the roles; P2P and an alternative link to download the patch directly from the server. It took me a total of 31 hrs straight to download the latest patch. On my internet connection, there is no reason it should have taken any longer than a couple hours
