Since you're only looking at older games, I'd like to point out GEO is an extremely powerful buffing class in XI with some elemental magic on the side so they have something to do other than buff. Rather than the regional affinities they used in earlier games for their buffs, however, SE went with a more eastern-religion theme in XI using cardinal directions and the directional flow of the Lifestream to influence their abilities. It's really quite interesting and a different take on the job.
Lore-wise, it would work really well with the focus on Aetheric flows in-game. Gameplay-wise, with how people dislike hybrids and buffing classes, I'm not sure how it would work in XIV. Like BRD, I guess, but with magic.

I highly doubt this would get put in. Here's why.
Everything either builds immunity to enfeebles or resists it out right.
You wana make a role on here that's main mechanic will be to stop or slow mobs? It won't happen stuff on here gains resistance so fast or not at all the stun ability's in raids sent worth anything but damage and even if something can be stunned it gains resistance so fast because every dps uses it in their rotation well the bad dps I should say.
And we already now and I want thank the person who said it that SE didn't know right now how to make a good support role because of the way right now how the balanced party's are set up it won't happen.
And you think the devs haven't thought of time mages as a possible class, mechanics and all. I'm pretty sure every class in past FF games has been considered already, deemed them as viable or not, as interesting or not, some of them may come later, etc. No need to keep reimagining past classes since the devs most likely did so already.
Time Mages have had spells like Comet and Meator given to them in the past due to the Japanese word for the class referring to Space-Time. Thus they took the space literally and used celestial objects. I could see a DPS class about this.
I didnt say they didnt I was just saying this is some idea of what would be cool to me. Im not a developer so Im just using my imagination. And you think the devs haven't thought of time mages as a possible class, mechanics and all. Yea I was thinking meteor would be cool but Meteor is an attack that doesnt usually have a set amount of damage. I think the damage is random.
Good point. I actually didnt consider the resistance mobs get. Im jsut day dreaming is all.I highly doubt this would get put in. Here's why.

It is past due for another caster type DPS jobs, and it could probably work, but probably not as you think. For example: SCH in FFXI is very different then SCH in FFXIV, if they did introduce time mage, it probably won't work like you think, Much like people wanting red mage so badly even tho it won't follow the same style as it did in 11, it's just because it's "red mage" that people want it.
Yea for a DPS caster i'd like to see it worked even if its not what I imagine its still a cool idea to have a class that manipulates time or something. Even DRK is different from the one in FFXI.It is past due for another caster type DPS jobs, and it could probably work, but probably not as you think.
